Charmaine C. Alexander Mercersburg, 84
Mrs. Charmaine C. Alexander, 84, Mercersburg, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012, in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born December 26, 1927, in Uniontown, Pa., she was a daughter of the late William R. Sr. and Maude Jeffries Crago.
She was a 1945 graduate of Uniontown High School.
She married Jack W. Alexander, her husband of almost 62 years, on February 23, 1951. Prior to starting a family she was employed as a secretary for the S.E. Williams Supply Co. in Uniontown.
She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Upper West Conococheague in Mercersburg as well as its Women’s Association. She was also a member of Fulton County Chapter 519 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a former member of Mercersburg Lioness Club and had been a volunteer at Chambersburg Hospital.
Her greatest joy was her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her laughter and sense of humor will be greatly missed but is a source of treasured memories and smiles to her loved ones.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Mark W. and wife Linda Alexander of Salisbury, N.C.; Gary W. Alexander of Chambersburg; and Kimberly A. and husband Allen Dixon of Hickory, N.C.; grandchildren: Michael C. Alexander of Salisbury; Madalyn R. Alexander of Seattle, Wash.; Sean M. Bolick, Hickory; Lauren F. Alexander of Durham, N.C., and Julie Odem-Dixon of Guyton, Ga.; a sister, Betty Blackburn, Mechanicsburg and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Crago Jr.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 12 at Presbyterian Church. Rev. Anthony Lorenz officiated. Burial was made in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
