Downs Bear On Opening Day Of Archery Season

Twenty-six-year-old Joshua Gallaher had a unique oppor tunity Monday morning when he came upon this 185-pound female black bear in Plum Hollow, Dublin Township. Looking to bag a buck during the state’s final day of archery antlered deer season on November 12, Gallaher instead chose to use his bear license on what was also, coincidentally, the opening day of archery bear season. Gallaher’s 7 a.m. kill occurred approximately one mile from Clear Ridge Road. A resident of New Cumberland, Pa., Gallaher is the grandson of Hustontown area resident Edith Gallaher.
