Betty M. Horton Hagerstown, 82
She was born January 12, 1930, in McConnellsburg, the daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle (Smith) Vores. She was the wife of the late John Harold Horton; they married on March 21, 1948.
She was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in St. Thomas.
She was a charter member of Fulton County Chapter of the Eastern Star. She volunteered at Chambersburg Hospital and attended Fort Loudon Senior Activity Center in Fort Loudon. She and her late husband, John, enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Whirly Birds. She enjoyed making crafts for friends and family. But her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.
She is survived by two sons: Douglas Horton and wife Susan of Keedysville, Md., and Kent Horton and wife Donna of Newburg, Pa.; four grandchildren Carrie Horton of Ocean Springs, Miss.; Zachery Horton and wife Andrea of Keedysville, Md.; Jonathan Horton and wife Jessica of Boonsboro, Md; A1C Van Horton stationed at Elmendorf, AFB Ark.; and three great-grandchildren: Mia, Macie and Dylan Horton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers: John, Charles and Rudolph Vores, and one sister Helen Martin.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2012, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in Mc- Connellsburg, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be held at Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church of St. Thomas.
