Alan D. Guthridge Saxton, 67
Alan D. Guthridge, 67, Saxton, died Monday, October 22, 2012, at Altoona Regional Health System following an extended illness.
Born October 14, 1945, in Saxton, he was the son of the late Harry Guthridge and the late Anna (Luther) Teeters. He was united in marriage to the former Cindy Donelson May 14, 1977, in Stonerstown. His wife of 35 years survives.
He is also survied by four children: Eric Hale and wife Ronda, Harrisonville; Andy Guthridge and partner Barry Charles, of New Cumberland; Tina Donelson of Saxton, and Joudy Lazor of Six Mile Run; eight grandchildren; two sisters: Joan Lynn and Teesa Carberry; and a brother, Petey “Gary” Pembrooke, all of Saxton.
He attended Raven Run Church of the Brethren, Saxton.
He was a lifetime member of Saxton Sportsman Association and a member of Captain Phillips Veterans of Foreign Wars Post NO. 4129.
He was employed by H.J. Williams Construction, Leon Witnermyer Construction and Seton Co. until his retirement.
A lifelong outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, family cookouts and spending time on his deck at home with his dogs, Mavis and Max. He also took great pleasure in participating in local chili cook-offs.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 25, at Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc., Broad Top City. Rev. Dan Hammel officiated. Private interment was held in Grandview Cemetery, Saxton.
