A concert, “Organ and Friends,” will be held at Mc- Connellsburg United Presbyterian Church November 4, 2012, at 3 p.m. This concert is in honor of the 50th anniversary of the church’s M.P. Möller pipe organ installed in 1962. The organ was the gift of an anonymous donor. The concert will include solos played by organists Carolyn Kerlin and Ferree LeFevre and duets played by Richard Rotz, piano; Carl Rowe, trumpet; Patty Hall, cello; and Elizabeth George, flute. As no program honoring the church’s organ would be complete without hymns, two hymns will be included as well.
The Möller Company was located in Hagerstown, from 1875 to 1992, and was one of the largest organ builders in the world, producing more than 11,000 instruments. Some of the larger instruments built by the company include the theater organ in the Atlanta Fox Theatre and the organ in the Cadet Chapel of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
The Presbyterian Church is located at the corner of Second and Maple streets in McConnellsburg. For more information contact Pastor Evan Smith, 658- 9927 or Carolyn Kerlin, 485- 5358. The concert is free and all are welcome.
