Md. Man Guilty In Child Sex Case
An Essex, Md., man entered a guilty plea last Tuesday after facing allegations he had a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl.
Dylan Michael Sosebee of 1610 Frenchs Avenue stood before Fulton County Court of Common Pleas Judge Shawn Meyers on October 9 for formal arraignment on 20 counts of statutory sexual assault, 32 counts of corruption of minors and 12 counts of rape of a child.
Charged on June 11 by Pennsylvania State Police criminal investigator Trooper Joseph Horton, initial charges against the 20-yearold only included one count each of statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors. Since that time, the charges were amended to include the 62 additional counts ranging from a firstdegree misdemeanor to a first-degree felony.
Sosebee entered a guilty plea to statutory sexual assault. Maximum penalty is 10 years incarceration and $25,000 in fines.
Sosebee admitted in court that between June and December 2010 he had sexual intercourse with the girl. He noted he was aware of her age at the time.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Horton states that in April of 2011 the victim gave birth to a son. She refused to provide Fulton County Services for Children information regarding the child’s father but would later list Sosebee in a request for child support.
Following up with an interview of the victim, police determined Sosebee had occasionally stayed at the girl’s home in Fulton County. He was 18 at the time. She said she told Sosebee when she found out she was pregnant but had not seen him since, police stated.
Police also interviewed Sosebee, who alleged the girl had a fake identification and claimed to be 17 years old. He alleged inappropriate contact with the girl happened between 15 and 20 times.
“Sosebee related that he was surprised when the victim’s father showed up with a birthday cake for her with a 13 on it,” the affidavit said. Sosebee added in the interview he had sex with the girl an additional time or two after her 13th birthday, and their last illicit contact was the day he was released from the Franklin County Prison on October 22, 2010.
Sosebee will be sentenced on December 11 following a presentence investigation by the Fulton County Probation Department. He is being held in the Franklin County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
