Boys Soccer

McConnellsburg 2

Hyndman 0

McConnellsburg gave its fans something to cheer about last Friday during its homecoming match against Hope for Hyndman. Winning the non-league match 2-0, the Spartans were led by teammates Jesse Swope and Tristin Deneen with one goal each. Beau Wilson had an assist. Nick Daniels, goalkeeper, tallied 19 saves during the game.

Southern Fulton 6

Berlin 3

Southern Fulton snapped a three-game losing streak last Thursday, downing Berlin by the final score of 6- 3. Mason Bard tallied two goals and an assist to lead the Indians’ offensive effort during the non-league win. Taylor Bohrer and Josh Voight both added a goal and an assist, and Shad Gordon and Tyler Richards had one goal each. Dristen Mellott rounded out the match with an assist. Goalkeepers Richard Trumpower and Tim Mottern both recorded three saves.

Southern Fulton 4

Cumberland Valley

Christian 3

Cumberland Valley Christian rallied in the second period Saturday to tie the nonleague match, but it was Southern Fulton who prevailed with a slim 4-3 victory. Mason Bard ended the day with two goals and one assist, while Taylor Bohrer chipped in one goal and one assist. Shad Gordon had a goal as well, and Tim Mottern had an assist. Mottern also rounded out the day with 15 saves in goal.

McConnellsburg 5

Everett 1

Jesse Swope connected for three goals and one assist for the McConnellsburg Spartans last Wednesday during a 5-1 win over the Everett Warriors. Tristen Deneen added a goal and an assist, while Patrick Keefer had a goal as well. Those dishing out assists were Beau Wilson, Jake Boehme and Casey Randler. Goalkeeper Nick Daniels tallied six saves.

McConnellsburg 4

Southern Fulton 2

McConnellsburg’s Jesse Swope tallied three goals in the opening half of last Monday’s game to lead the Spartans to a 4-2 win over Southern Fulton. Tristin Deneen also scored a goal for Mc- Connellsburg as well as two assists, and Jacob Boehme also added an assist. Mason Bard and Taylor Bohrer both scored goals for Southern Fulton.

Spartan goalie Nick Daniels finished the Sideling Hill League match with five saves, and Tim Mottern and Richard Trumpower combined for five saves for the Indians.

Fannett-Metal 11

Forbes Road 1

The Fannett-Metal Tigers broke loose in the second half of last Monday’s match to easily defeat the Forbes Road Cardinals by the score of 11-1. Caleb McGowen scored the Cardinals’ lone goal during the Sideling Hill League game. Goalie Mack Hawkins finished out the match with 13 saves.

Cross Country

Southern Fulton boys cross-country team swept Hope for Hyndman last Wednesday, while the girls team downed Johnstown Christian during a meet held at Windber. Macey Hollenshead racked up another first-place win for the Lady Indians with a time of 20:03. Lindsay Pryor was the only other girl to place for Southern Fulton. Pryor finished in ninth-place with a time of 25:33.

Josh Voight took top honors for the boys team with a finish time of 16:23, while Tyler Richards followed closely in second with a time of 16:24. Mason Bard racked up a fifth-place win with his time of 18:56, and Jake Pryor was sixth, posting a time of 19:14. Dylan Cross, Jake Ashkettle, Nathan Leedy and Zach Clark rounded out the meet clinching seventh through 10h-place, respectively.

Field Hockey

Forbes Road 2

Greencastle 1

Avenging a loss earlier in the season, Forbes Road narrowly slid by Greencastle- Antrim last Friday to win the non-league match 2-1. Sammie Clippinger scored both goals for the Lady Cardinals with assists given to Morghan Taylor, Brittany Truax and Kiersten Cline. Goalkeeper Olivia Mills had two saves.

Forbes Road 3

Shippensburg 0

Forbes Road recorded its third consecutive shutout last Thursday with a 3-0 nonleague win over Shippensburg. Sammie Clippinger, Kiersten Cline and Shania Gelvin each found the back of the goal for the Lady Cardinals, who got two assists from Corri Parsons. Morghan Taylor also had an assist during the non-league match. Goalkeeper Olivia Mills preserved the shutout with three saves.

Forbes Road 6

Southern Huntingdon 0

Forbes Road managed three goals in both halves of last Tuesday evening’s match to down Southern Huntingdon by the score of 6-0. Morghan Taylor totalled two goals and one assist, while Lara Cromer had both a goal and an assist as did teammate Sammie Clippinger. Corri Parsons and Brittany Truax both had goals, and Kiersten Cline and Mina Wilt had three and two assists, respectively. Tiffany Thomas rounded out the day with two assists.

McConnellsburg 4

Tussey Mountain 2

Tied at one going into the halftime break, McConnellsburg broke open last Wednesday’s game against Tussey Mountain to win the Sideling Hill League game 4-2. Sarrah Kendall had two goals, and Chelsea Danner and Alexis Mellott both chipped in a goal. Brittany Parson tallied three assists, and Sierra Sherman added one assist. Goalie Sam Roberts closed out the league match with 10 saves.

North Star 1

McConnellsburg 0

McConnellsburg dropped last Monday’s match to North Star in overtime even though the Spartans easily outshot their non-league competitors. Lady Spartan goalkeeper Sam Roberts had six saves during the match.


McConnellsburg 3

Fannett-Metal 2

McConnellsburg beat out the Fannett-Metal Tigers in five sets last Tuesday for the 3-2 Sideling Hill League win. Jess Keefer tallied 12 kills and two blocks, and Veronica Stone had eight kills. Gabby Danner added 23 assists and 13 digs, while Deanne Dickerson totalled 15 digs and four aces. Brandi Welsh completed the day with 14 digs.

Chestnut Ridge 3

Southern Fulton 0

Southern Fulton dropped its fourth- straight match last Tuesday with a 3-0 Sideling Hill League loss to Chestnut Ridge. Emily Barton led the Lady Indians with seven kills and two blocks, while teammate Erika Mellott had four kills, three service points and two aces. Abby Hawkins contributed 12 assists, and Kristin Rohm and Chelsey Sipes had six digs and four service points, respectively.

McConnellsburg 0

McConnellsburg dropped last Thursday’s Sideling Hill League match in three straight sets, losing to Chestnut Ridge. Deanne Dickerson rallied for four kills for the Lady Spartans, who received three kills and two blocks from teammate Jess Keefer. Kylie Keefer added two blocks, and Gabby Danner tallied 12 assists and six digs. Brandi Welsh finished the day with seven digs.

Northern Bedford 3

Southern Fulton 1

After having had a slow second set, Northern Bedford rallied last Thursday to defeat the Southern Fulton Lady Indians 3- 1. Chelsey Sipes recorded six kills for the Indians, and Abby Hawkins added three kills, 16 assists and nine service points. Kristin Rohm tallied three kills, 10 digs and, four service points and two aces. Emily Barton and Melanie Deneen wrapped up the Sideling Hill League match with four blocks and nine digs, respectively.
