Sportsmen Prepare For New Hunting Season

As the leaves start to turn and the air turns cooler, many outdoor enthusiasts realize hunting season is upon them and began to prepare for it. Recently at FCMC’s annual Healthy Sportsman’s Health Fair over 200 men, women, and children came out to evaluate their overall health utilizing over a dozen screenings provided by FCMC and local healthcare providers.

Not only did they prepare for the start of a new season, they had a shot at winning an American Ruger rifle sponsored by McLaughlin’s Drug Store. The grand-prize winner was Mindy Brown of Broad Top.

Also during the day, food donations were accepted by the Fulton County Food Basket with each donor receiving a seat cushion complements of the following sponsors: Dr. Joey Lane, McLaughlin’s Drug Store, Evangel Assembly of God’s New Beginnings Youth Group, SCI, Jack Steele, DMD, Family Dentistry, Back Country Bad Boys, Keystone Country Store, and Tri- State Community Health Center. The Back Country Bad Boys provided free pork sandwiches to all attendees vendors and staff.

FCMC would also like to thank the following who provided displays, screenings and education for the community: Fulton County Center for Families, Pa. Game Commission, DCNR, Department of Health, Fulton County Food Basket, Tri- State Community Health Center, Take Shape for Life, Dr. Joey Lane, Dr. Parr, American Cancer Society, Tri State Community Health Center, and the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce.

FCMC reminds sportsmen to mark their calendars for next year’s event will be held September 29, 2013, and for the Ladies, The Ladies Night Out Health Fair is Thursday, October 11, at 5 p.m. in the Specialty Services building.
