Forbes Road Board Handles Short Agenda

Approves 12-13 salaries

The Forbes Road School District was able to get through the entire board agenda in a little over half an hour at its regular board meeting last Monday evening.

During a roll-call vote, the board unanimously approved both teacher and non-teacher salaries for the 2012-13 school year as presented.

In other financial business, the board also approved the list of transportation contractors, drivers and rates of the 2012-13 school year as presented.

The insurance contract for Tuscarora Intermediate Unit Capital Insurance Trust (TIUCIT) was also approved as presented.

After consideration of approving free admission to athletic events for residents 65 years of age and older with a pre-approved pass, a motion was tabled on a unanimous motion.

During miscellaneous business, a request from the adult basketball league to use the gym on Sunday afternoons when available during the fall and winter months was approved.

A request from the Class of 2014 to change the time of the prom from 4-8 p.m. to 5- 9 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013, was approved.

The directors also approved a request from Forbes Road Lions Club to place a collection box for used eyeglasses in each of the two school buildings.

Kathy Baker, Christine Englert, Stacie Keller, Bonnie Newman, Jeannette Dumer and Kristie Hohman were approved to be added to the Comprehensive Plan Professional Development Team. Carol Shoemaker was added to the Comprehensive Plan Special Education Development Team. Carrie Anderson was added to the cafeteria substitute list.

Also during the meeting, the directors heard updates on the vo-tech school, the elementary school, the high school and the district by the principals and superintendent.

The Forbes Road School District Board of Directors meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the school. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for November 5, 2012.
