Fulton County Scottish Rite Harrisburg Consistory sponsored a bus trip of the Southern states last week.

A benefit was held Saturday for Tyler Elmes at the American Legion Picnic Grounds to help cover medical expenses resulting from an accident on Memorial Day.

McConnellsburg Methodist Church held its fall fest Saturday evening at the country home of Craig, Jenn and Reuben Knepper. The fest included games, hayride and good food.

Congratulations to the four teams that represented the McConnellsburg American Legion Post 561 SAL. The tournament was held at the Silver Springs Golf Course September 15 in Carlisle, with one team bringing home the first- place plaque. All proceeds went to the VA Lebanon Hospital. Winning team members were Pat Shafer, Bill Yocum, Mark Weller and Marvin Kendall.

Kim and Landon Seiders visited with Kim’s close friend and former classmate, Terri McGarvey Blumenthal, and family in Carlisle.

Tim, Deb and Abby Mc- Garvey visited with Gabrielle McGarvey of Cal-U for the college’s family weekend.

Bob Garlock, Dick Miller, Jim Snyder, Jeremy Fletcher and Mike Garlock and wife Kristy and son Wyatt attended the 50th-year memorial ceremony for the late Marl “Tink” Garlock Jr. in Pittsburgh o Friday. He died at the age of 21 while on the submarine. They were given a tour of the submarine, the USS Requin, which they enjoyed very much. They toured with two of Tink’s shipmates at the time of his death.

The first eight months of 2012 were the hottest ever recorded.

A birthday party was held Sunday for Lyrah Waite, who turned 1 year old, at the home of her parents, Christopher and Ricki Waite, in Hustontown.
