John M. Keefer Fort Loudon, 72
John M. “Butch” Keefer, 72, Fort Loudon, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Falling Spring Nursing Center, Chambersburg.
Born August 20, 1940, at Chambersburg, he was a son of the late John T. and Hazel Mea Delauder Keefer.
As a young man he was a self-employed Gradall operator. Later he began his career as a truck driver and was employed by ATI of Omaha, Neb., and later by Shaffer Trucking of Carlisle. He was last employed as a driver by Food Lion of Greencstle, where he worked for 16 years.
He was U.S. Army veteran and served as a military policeman.
He was a member of Wesley Yeager American Legion #606 of Fort Loudon. He enjoyed yard work, hunting mushrooms and hunting.
Surviving are his wife, Donna M. Hays Keefer, whom he married March 27, 1992; two daughters: Carey Ann Keefer of Lehigh Valley; Nicole and husband Jamie Chilcote of Fort Loudon; two sons: Jamie and wife Barbara Keefer of Little Cove and John A. and wife Cindy Keefer, Westminister, Md.; a stepdaughter, Penny and husband Cheyenne Eader Sr., Big Cove Tannery; grandchildren: Jesse Chilcote, Tiffany Eader, Chelsie Eader and Cheyenne Eader Jr.; a great-grandchild, Madison Eader; three sisters: Mary and husband Eugene Hawbaker of Lemasters; Lee Ann and husband Danny Witter- Keefer, St. Thomas; and Pamela and husband Palmer Brookhart, Fort Loudon; an uncle, George Edward Keefer of Fort Loudon; and eight nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m., Saturday, September 15, at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg. Pastor Valeria Schmidt officiated. Burial was made at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
