Healthy Sportsman Health Fair Set For September 30 At FCMC

Fulton County Medical Center is set once again to host its annual Healthy Sportsman Health Fair Sunday, September 30, from noon until 4 p.m.

This year some lucky sportsman will win an American Ruger rife with choice of caliber .30-06, .270, .308 or .243, sponsored by McLaughlin’s Drug Store. The popular grand prize draws many enthusiasts to the fair to take part in the health screenings that prepare them for the hunting season.

New to the health fair this year, are free pork sandwiches provided by Backcountry Bad Boys, at the main entrance from a wild boar hunt they filmed just for this event.

Other agencies and sponsors are Joey Lane, Safari Club International, New Beginnings Youth Group, Whitetail Resort, Keystone County Store, All Things Automotive, VA Hospital, Fulton County Chamber of Commerce, Catherine Washabaugh, Fulton County Food Basket, FCMC Auxiliary, Fulton County Center For Families, Take Shape For Life, American Cancer Society, Veteran Affairs of Martinsburg, WV, DCNR, PA Department of Health, McLaughlin’s Drug Store, Backcountry Bad Boys, Dr. Susan Parr, and Tri- State Community Health Center.

Also there will be many unscheduled health screenings provided by local health agencies, including infection control, cholesterol and glucose, pulse ox, carbon monoxide monitoring, BMI, osteoporosis, blood pressure, vision, EKG, and hearing.

Scheduled screenings that day included the carotid artery test. Anyone interested in this screening who did not complete one last year call 717-485-6107 press 0 to sign up between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, to make an appointment.
