Needmore, McConnellsburg and Hustontown volunteer fire companies pose with STAT MedEvac, which flew in to help celebrate local heroes. For the second time in as many years, the three local fire companies came together for one day to be honored for their service to the community. Recently, Fulton Co. Medical Center took a few hours to honor the local heroes who provide outstanding service to our community every day.

Joined by the long-termcare residents, they enjoyed a meal of hot dogs and hamburgers, followed by homemade desserts provided by the residents’ families. DJ Jazzie Jeff Wilson of Hustontown provided entertainment.

After the meal, 12 EMS teams battled it out for the “Local Hero Horseshoe Tournament.” However, as duty called, the tournament had to take a brief hiatus for an emergency call; but Jeff Black and Scott Roher stuck it out and took home the honors. The HAVFCO firehall will house the traveling plaque for this year. This was especially moving for Black – last year he won with his son, Dylan, who is now stationed in the Middle East.
