Cowboys Sink Vikings
The Vikings struck first in the late summer heat. Following a Cowboy fumble on the opening kickoff, Mount Union needed only seven plays to take the lead. A failed point-after kick was wide, setting the score at 6- 0.
The Cowboys answered with an 11-play drive of their own on the next possession. Brycen Hohman connected with Tyare Durant for the touchdown pass to cap the drive. Hohman’s quarterback keeper added the extra point, giving the Cowboys a 7-6 lead.
Following a Viking punt, the Cowboys again marched the field. Hohman found Durant open again for the touchdown and 13-6 lead heading to halftime.
The lead would hold up for the remainder of the afternoon, though not without some big plays by both teams. The Cowboys survived three turnovers, while forcing one by the Vikings.
The victory moves the Cowboys to 1-1 on the season. They return to action this Saturday, facing Southern Huntingdon at 9:30.
