James I. Fleming Blairs Mills, 73
James I. Fleming, 73, Blairs Mills, Pa., died at 8 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at his home.
Born September 3, 1938, in Tell Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Ira and Mary Kathleen (Parsons) Fleming. He was married to the former Carolyn F. Flood on July 14, 1962, at Hagerstown. She survives at their home.
Also surviving are two children: Lynne Taylor and husband Steve, Howard, Pa., and Terry Fleming and wife Beth of Huntingdon; five grandchildren: Tonya, Taylor, Briana Taylor, Lillian Taylor, Rachel Fleming and Nathan Fleming and five great-grandchildren; the following brothers and sisters: Betty Runk and husband James, Hustontown; Janet Seville and husband Merrill, McConnellsburg; Sue Chapman and husband Gerald, Blairs Mills; Connie Gibbons and husband Duane of Gardners, Pa.; Marlin Joseph Fleming and wife Marlene, Orbisonia; and Richard “Dick” Fleming and wife Peggy, Dry Run.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Megan Fleming; two brothers: Darrell Gene Fleming and Charles Lawrence Fleming, and three sisters: Anna Maney, Barbara Mooney and Mary Espenshade.
He attended Salem United Methodist Church, Blairs Mills. He was a member of Blairs Mills Lions Club and American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had been employed by HRI Inc., State College, and Fayetteville Contractors Inc., Fayetteville, Pa., as a superintendent for their bridge construction projects.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 2, at Salem United Methodist Church, Blairs Mills. Pastor Luvania Renninger and Pastor Mike Purnell officiated. Burial was made at Salem Cemetery.
Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, was in charge of arrangements.
