SFHS Invites Community To Join Christmas Musical

SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

Southern Fulton High School choirs will be performing the Christmas musical “ He Came to Us.” Once again, the choirs are inviting alumni and all interested adults in the community to join them in the performance. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Southern Fulton adult community choir.

“He Came to Us” is a cantata featuring a blend of traditional and contemporary Christmas music. The performance will feature senior high chorus, junior high chorus, SFHS Ensemble, and adult community members under the direction of Dan Meredith. High school students will be featured as soloists and narrators. The combined choirs performed this particular cantata in 1994 and 2000 and it has been a favorite of audience and participants alike.

Interested adults will be charged a registration fee of $12 to cover the cost of the music and a rehearsal CD. (Participants who have the music and CD from the 2000 performance do not need to pay the registration fee.) The rehearsal CD will feature the appropriate voice part for each singer. Each adult is expected to learn his or her own part. The ability to read music is helpful but not necessary. There will be three evening rehearsals for the adults to practice with the students.

The date for the concert is Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 3 p.m. The evening rehearsals will be Monday, November 12, Monday, November

19, and Thursday, November 29. All rehearsals will begin at 7 p.m. Books and CDs will be distributed and a read-through of the program will be held on Monday, October 15, at 7 p.m. The concert and all rehearsals will take place in the SFHS auditorium. Participants do not need to be at every rehearsal if there are schedule conflicts.

Registration deadline is September 24, 2012. Registration forms are available from students in chorus or by writing to Dan Meredith, Southern Fulton High School, 13083 Buck Valley Road, Warfordsburg, PA, 17267, by sending e-mail to dmeredith@sfsd.k12.pa.us, or calling the school at 294- 3251, Ext 221.
