Visiting last Friday with Ruth Souders, a resident in the long-term-care unit of Fulton County Medical Center, were her great-granddaughters, Chelsea Horton of Waynesboro and greatgreat grandson Alijah, also of Waynesboro, and Jenna Cabrera of Orlando, Fla.

Sideling Hill Christian Church held its annual homecoming September 2 with a basket lunch at noon. Rev. Chris Elliott spoke at the afternoon service.

If you were looking in the sky last week you could have seen two blue moons in a row. An unusual sight. It will be three years again before they will appear.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Betty Lynch, who passed away after a battle with cancer.

A surprise 30th wedding anniversary outing was held on Saturday at the Mc- Connellsburg Lions Park for Paul and Teresa Strait.

Neil Armstrong passed away last week at the age of 82. He commanded the air craft Apollo in 1969 and was the first human being to walk on the moon on July 20. The words he spoke at the landing. “That’s one big step for man and one giant step for mankind.”

Cooper McGarvey, daughter of Tony and Martina Mc- Garvey of Scotland, Pa., was named Athlete of the Week for tennis by the Public Opinion this week.

The FOVA held its annual picnic at its picnic grounds in Big Cove Tannery. Lots of good food and weather and was a nice turnout of people.

The Big Cove Tannery St. Paul’s Lutheran Church held a covered- dish meal on Wednesday for Pastor Chris Martin who was here for three years and is returning to his home roots in the Midwest.
