Protesters Make Waves At Corbett's Pa. Kayak Tour
DARBYTOWN, Pa. (AP) – Environmentalists have made some waves for Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett as he sets out on a two-day kayak tour of the upper Delaware River.
The Pocono Record reports that activists opposed to gas drilling used signs and boats to confront the governor as he paddled from Darbytown on Thursday.
Corbett plans to travel through Wayne, Pike and Monroe counties to promote the state's natural resources and learn about the waterway.
Protesters say Corbett’s support for gas drilling endangers the river's ecosystem and the drinking water supply for millions of residents.
In July, Corbett and his wife took a three-day kayak tour of the Allegheny River in Forest and Warren counties.
