Outdoo Gospel Sing An outdoor gospel sing will be held at Knobsville Church of the Brethren Saturday, September 8 at 5 p.m. Several local groups will present music and light refreshments will be served. Bring lawn chairs. The church is located at 221 Knobsville Road, just off Rt. 522, five miles north of McConnellsburg. For more information call 987-3935.

Contemporary Worship Contemporary worship service at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ on Sunday, September 2, at 11 a.m. It will be an informal service with live modern music and children’s message. Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church Annual Fall Service The Friends of Tonoloway will hold their annual fall service October 7 at historic Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church in Thompson Township, Fulton County. The 2 p.m. service will include an inspirational message by Rev. David E. Ford of the First Baptist Church of Three Springs, Three Springs, Pa.; a cappella chorale singing by the Sharon Singers, a choir of students from the Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute, Harrisonville, Pa.; and congregational hymns. Refreshments will be served in the churchyard following the service. Established in 1752, Tonoloway is Fulton County’s oldest church and is located on Thompson Road (state Route 655) two miles north of Hancock, Md. Friends of Tonoloway is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church.

Presbyterian Church Fall Schedule McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church announces its return to a fall schedule beginning Sunday, September 9, with youth program in sanctuary, 10:30 a.m. – the Gathering; worship starting at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 16: 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. – rally day; combined opening in sanctuary, 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. breakfast, worship at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 23: regular Sunday school classes resume. Homecoming Sideling Hill Christian Church will hold its annual homecoming Sunday, September 2. Sunday School will be at 9:30 a.m., followed by worship service at 10:30 a.m. There will be a basket lunch at noon. The afternoon service will be at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Chris Elliott. The evening hymns ing will be at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

Homecoming Services The Rehobeth Cemetery Association’s annual homecoming service will be held at Rehobeth United Methodist Church Sunday, September 2, at 2 p.m. Pastor Frank Kocek will be in charge, with Rev. Delmas Bard, pastor of Assembly of God Church in Amaranth, as guest speaker. Special music will be by “The New Cross Roads” from Berkeley Springs and surrounding areas. Memorial gifts by mail are appreciated. Lunch will be in the pavilion after the service. Meats, breads, desserts, drinks and utensils are furnished; however, a covered dish would also be appreciated. Fall Revival Dublin Mills Community Church, 2700 Dublin Mills Road, Hustontown, will hold fall revival meetings with evangelist Tim Thompson September 16-21. The meetings will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, September 16, and will be held each evening at 7 p.m., with Friday, September 21, being the last service. Block Party Rehoboth New Life will host its third annual block party Saturday, September 1, from noon to 4 p.m. at Needmore Firehall. This is a totally free event. Free clothing, free toys, free games and inflatable rides, free food, free drinks and many free giveaways, including bikes and gift cards. Special guests include Seven x Seventy, Scott Deshong and friends and Chad Gordon. Bring lawn chairs and family and enjoy the afternoon.

Cruise-In For A Cause A cruise-in will be held September 15 at Thomas All Things Automotive from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A $10 donation is being accepted per registered vehicle. This event is being held to benefit the 2012 Fight Like A Girl recipients of Fulton County. Food is available for purchase by Sipes Smokehouse BBQ. Cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome. The first 50 registered vehicles will receive a thankyou gift bag. No alcoholic beverages, please. Not responsible for accidents. Line Dance Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7 p.m. at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated.

Hunter Ed Course A hunter, trapper, education course will be held September 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and September 8 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Bring a bag lunch on Saturday. This is the last traditional course for Fulton County in 2012. Preregistration is required at PGC Web site at www.pgc.state.pa.us. Senior Center Social Night On August 31 at Warfordsburg Senior Center social night, the Ah Loe family will perform their “Dances of the Pacific” including their fire dance. Bring a covered dish, meat is furnished. Come dressed in Hawaiian grass skirts, shirts and leis. Meal at 6 p.m. with music from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Seniors 60 and over come and enjoy the evening. Preschool Story Hour Preschool story hour begins Tuesday, September 11, at 10:30 a.m., at Hustontown Branch Library; Wednesday, September 12, at 10 a.m. at Fulton County Library in McConnellsburg; and Thursday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m. in southern Fulton (Needmore Bible Church community room). Golf Tournament The Fulton County Pony League will sponsor its second annual golf tournament on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Great Cove Golf Course, McConnellsburg. Shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. Cost will be $50 per golfer. The format will be a 4-person scramble. There will be hole-in-one contest that includes a chance to win a new car and a putting contest for some great prizes. Cut-off date for entering a team is September 5. Maximum teams allowed will be 23. Tournament and contest sponsors are still available. HEALTH

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, it is held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building Basement, McConnellsburg.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments the second Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center the third Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Hustontown Senior Center the third Thursday of every month from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. FR/ Hustontown Alumni Banquet The Hustontown/ Forbes Road Alumni banquet will be held October 6 at Hustontown Firehall. Doors open at 4 p.m. for those who want to come early and visit with friends. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. A donation of $9 will be collected for each person attending. Everyone who has graduated from either Hustontown High School or Forbes Road High School is invited to attend the banquet. A special invitation is extended to the classes of 1932, 1942, 1952, 1962, 1972, 1982, 1992, 2002 and 2012. Make checks payable to Hustontown-Forbes Road Alumni Assoc. Turkey Dinner Turkey dinners will be served at Clear Ridge Community Building September 13 at 4 p.m. Sandwiches, pies and ice cream will be available. Last one of the season.

Chili Cook-off Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Outreach/ Fellowship Committee is having its first annual chili cook-off October 6, 2012. The contest will run from noon to 4 p.m. Advanced entry must be received by September 1, 2012. Advanced entry fee is $20 and will be refunded after completion of the event. All entries after September 1, 2012, will be charged $25. Space is limited, so enter early. Everyone is eligible to enter. First prize is $200; second prize- $100; third prize - $50. Summer Reading Program Picnic Teen back-to-school and summer reading program picnic will be held at the Mc- Connellsburg library, Friday, August 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please bring a covered dish to share and a drink. All teens welcome. Enter through community room door.

Singles Picnic Knobsville Singles will hold a picnic at Cowans Gap State Park Monday, September 10, at 11 a.m. Anyone wishing to carpool should meet at Cherie’s house at 10:30 a.m. Bring sandwich, other food will be provided. Bring $1 food item for game.

Autumn Tea Fulton County Historical Social Museum is hosting its annual autumn tea at the Fulton House at 11:30 a.m., September 15. Admission tickets are $9 for adults and $4.50 for children under 12. A light lunch, tea and desserts will be served. Tickets may be purchased from Tickle Your Fancy Teas on West Main Street, Monica at the treasurer’s office or call Ruth at 485-4496.

Ice Cream Festivals Fairview United Methodist Church will hold an ice cream festival September 8. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be sold. The festivals begin at 4 p.m. All are welcome.

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

REUNIONS

Hustontown Class Of 1958 Reunion Hustontown High School Class of 1958 will celebrate its 54th graduating class reunion September 8 at Hustontown Firehall at 5 p.m. Please plan to attend. Meal will be served at 6 p.m., buffet style. Cost is $10 per person.

Bishop Reunion The annual Bishop reunion will be held Sunday, September 2, at Warfordsburg Lions Park. Lunch at 1 p.m. Please bring a covered dish.

DeShong Reunion The Harry N. and Arishia DeShong reunion will be held September 16 at the homeplace on Goldie Road. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Bring lawn chairs.

Kuhn/Clevenger/Kendle Reunion The Kuhn/ Clevenger/ Kendle reunion will be held Sunday, September 16, at the Upton Community Center at noon. Bring a covered dish and drinks for family and items for the auction.

MEETINGS

Medical Center Auxiliary Meeting Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, September 4, at 10 a.m., in the activities room of the center.

Farm Women Meeting Fulton County Society of Farm Women will meet Thursday, September 6, at 7 p.m., at the longterm care section of Fulton County Medical Center to play bingo with the residents. Each member is asked to bring a small gift suitable for a man or woman to be used as bingo prizes.

Animal League Meeting Due to Labor Day, the next meeting of the Friends of Better Days Animal League will be held Monday, September 10, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at the BDAL Thrift Store. Please join us to learn more about BDAL, services and upcoming functions. This is a great opportunity to become involved as a volunteer for our community events or thrift store, all benefiting the lives of abandoned, abused and neglected animals. Anyone interested in providing support to BDAL, Humane Society police officers and improving the lives of all animals in Fulton County is welcome to attend.

Legion Meeting American Legion Post 561 active members regular meeting is the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. Auxiliary members meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Members of both organizations are urged to attend.
