DeShong Sentenced For Corrupting Minor
A Harrisonville man was remanded to the Franklin County Prison last week to begin what will be a short period of incarceration for having a brief sexual relationship with a local teen.
Zachary Allen DeShong was sentenced by Fulton County Court of Common Pleas Judge Carol L. Van Horn on August 14 on one count of the corruption of minors, a third-degree felony. DeShong was sentenced to 48 months of Intermediate Punishment, which began with 10 days incarceration in the Franklin County Prison.
Upon his release, DeShong, of 8128 Black Bear Road, will undergo four months of electronic monitoring and complete 50 hours of community service as monitored by the Fulton County Probation Department. Judge Van Horn is also requiring DeShong to pay various fines and fees as well as $7,000 in restitution.
According to court documents, DeShong, 20, will be unable to contact the teenage victim or her family aside from what has already been determined in a previous court order.
DeShong was arrested on January 31, the day after the girl and her parents appeared at the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in McConnellsburg.
Trooper Michael Davis, the lead investigator in the case, maintained DeShong corrupted the minor by having sexual intercourse with the girl when she was 14 and 15 years old. The age difference between the local man and the juvenile is four years and 11 months.
In her discussions with Trooper Davis, the girl admitted to having consensual sex with DeShong between October and December 2011, an affidavit of probable cause stated. The victim and the defendant were allegedly together between five and 10 times during that time frame.
