Peach Festival Scheduled For August 18 In Fort Loudon
Live music, craft vendors and plenty of peaches will be featured at this year’s Peach Festival in Fort Loudon. The second annual event will be held at the community grounds Saturday, August 18, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Breakfast sandwiches will be served until 10 a.m., followed by chicken barbeque at 11 a.m. A variety of other sandwiches, french fries and drinks will be available throughout the day. Dessert options include peach pie, peach cobbler and peach ice cream sundaes.
A pie-eating contest begins at 10:30, and a pie-baking contest will be held at 1 p.m., with winners being announced at 1:30. After being judged, those freshly baked pies will become part of an auction.
The sound of live music will fill the community grounds for the majority of the day. Dave Powers of Lemasters will perform Southern gospel music at 10:30, and The Shippensburg Blaskapelle German Band will take the stage from noon until 2 p.m.
Several artists from the area will have their work on display in the Fort Loudon Community Center from 9:00 until 5 p.m.
The list of vendors attending this year’s event includes Zen Creations Jewelry, Bowen Historic Embroidered Patches, Thirty-One Gifts, Cookie Lee Jewelry, Custom Cupcakes, Scentsy Candles, Mary Kay Cosmetics and several others.
Face painting and barrel train rides will be available for children.
The annual Peach Festival is sponsored by Trinity United Church of Christ in Fort Loudon. In the event of rain, the festivities will be held in the Freedom Lighthouse on Path Valley Road.
Parking and admission to the festival is free.
