Fulton County Fair week. The weather is great, but there are predictions for some showers. Then it’s off to school already.

We send speedy recovery wishes to a little girl, Sophie Hamil, who was badly burned at a picnic campfire and is in the burn trauma hospital in Baltimore.

Happy birthday wishes to three special boys, Jacob, Joel and Jonas Peck, who will have a special day on August 18.

It is good to report that USA did real well in the Olympics.

Herbert and Tammy Berkstresser spent the weekend in Ohio at a bow shoot.

An evening of gospel music will be held at Clear Ridge Community Building on Sunday, August 19, at 6 p.m. with the Egolf Boys. Outdoor services, weather permitting, so bring your lawn chair.

Center United Methodist Church folks will have a festival Saturday, August 25, at 4 p.m.

Household Hint: Are you allergic to aluminum or wheat? You can make your own baking powder that is free of these ingredients. Combine two teaspoons of cream of tarter, two teaspoons of cornstarch and one teaspoon of baking soda. To make it corn-free, use arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch.
