Marion Osarczuk Pittsburgh, 86

Marion Osarczuk, 86, Pittsburgh, Pa., formerly of Altoona, Pa., died in her sleep on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Country Meadows Nursing Center, Bridgeville, Pa.

She was born in 1926 in New Jersey. In 1949 she married Stephen Osarczuk in Brooklyn, N.Y., after a whirlwind romance.

She had extraordinary artistic talents and an engineering mind, when women were expected to be homemakers. She traveled throughout Europe and the United States with her career military husband wherever he was stationed. She studied opera as a young woman and sang duets on the radio with her sister. In Europe she learned to oil paint and graced her home with dozens of treasured portraits and landscapes. She drew plans for remodeling projects and designed cabinetry. She was a wonderful gourmet cook, and skilled knitter and seamstress, sewing her daughters’ wedding dresses. More than that, she was a wise and loving wife, mother and grandmother, always sweet, always knowing, who will be immensely missed.

She was the wife of the late Stephen Osarczuk; mother of Petra (Harry) Emerick, Kira Charles (Robert) Shortall, Andrew Osarczuk, Christine (Russell) Treml of Harrisonville and the late Mariste Jaffe; grandmother of Daniel and Keith Emerick and Alexandra and Nicole Treml of Harrisonville; and sister of Dorothy Blake and Irene (Mike) Czarnecky.

Funeral services were private and under the direction of Beinhauers. Interment was at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil, Pa., with her husband.

Since she was an avid reader and frequented her local library, in lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to: Altoona Area Public Library, 1600 Fifth Ave., Altoona, PA 16602 or www.altoonalibrary.org. Please add or view tributes at www.beinhauer.com
