Mercersburg Lions To Hold Community Fair

The 37th annual Mercersburg Lions Community Fair opens Sunday, August 12. A community vesper service will be get under way at 7 p.m. For the 27th year, a summer band concert by the Mercersburg Community Band will follow the worship service. At 9 p.m., there will be a spectacular fireworks display. Sandwiches, french fries, drinks and ice cream will be available starting at 5:30 p.m.

A new group, “The Flashbacks” will be performing oldies but goodies on the Lions stage Monday, August 13. Karoke night is featured on Tuesday featuring the “Big Fish” DJ.

Wednesday will be another big night at the fair where all can ride all night from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for just $16. The “Boro Boogie Pickers” will be performing on the stage.

Thursday “The Whistle Pig Jamboree” will provide music starting at 7:30 p.m. There will also be “big bucks bingo” with more than $3,500 to win.

Friday night will feature the “Sister Mary Elephant,” a fabulous show at the stage starting at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday at the final night of the fair will be the county group “New Country” at 7:30 p.m. The final event will be the “600 Club” giveaway at 11:30 p.m. with more than $1,500 in cash and more than 100 other valuable prizes. All profits go to the Lions Community Park and the Mercersburg Halloween parade.

Admission and parking are free. Win a goldfish, a teddy bear or other prizes, eat an ox sandwich or some french fries, get a dip of ice cream or “pig out” with a make-your- own sundae. Bring the whole family and enjoy the Mercersburg Fair.
