Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

We have been having some beautiful summer weather. A lot of folks are going camping, etc., for their summer vacations. It won’t be long until the school year starts. Summer has just gone so fast.

Ruth (Taylor) Dobesh from Mead, Neb., and formerly from Dublin Mills, visited in the home of Ralph and Doretta Mellott a day last week. Ruth and Doretta were classmates at the Winegardner School 64 years ago, and really enjoyed reminiscing those good ole’ days with pictures and stores.

Doretta Mellott attended the 47th annual PA State Association of Jury Commissioners Conference held in Harrisburg last week.

Our sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Jean Barton, who passed away Saturday. She lived at Chambersburg, but was formerly from Hustontown, moving to McConnellsburg and then to Chambersburg.

Pastor Bill Kuhn and Joan were back Sunday after vacation. Sorry to hear he spent a little time in the hospital while away. Glad he was feeling better on Sunday.

Michael Torcasco stopped by on Sunday to visit great-grandmother Kate Berkstresser.

Congratulations to Danny and Brooke Sheeder on the arrival of a baby girl on Saturday.

Beverly St. Clair of Mc- Connellsburg moved last week to her new residence in Chambersburg. We are going to miss her.

Sorry LaRue Shaw is not doing as well as we’d like to hear. Also we send get well wishes to Dorothy and Betty Shotts.

Mr. and Mrs. Danny DeShong visited his parents, Marvin and Elner DeShong, on Sunday.

Our sympathy is extended to the Dean Souders family on the loss of Dean’s mother.

Household Hint: Save bits of soap. Put all your last little slivers of soap into a plastic squeeze bottle (an old detergent bottle works fine) and add a little water. As the soap melts into the water you will have your own liquid hand soap.
