Man Mauled By Bear In Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Authorities in Alaska say a man has been mauled by a bear during a hike in the woods of an Anchorage suburb.
Anchorage police Lt. Dave Parker says Bob Eder's scalp and leg were clawed by the brown bear, which might have had cubs with it. The animal ran off after the attack Sunday afternoon off Mariah Drive in Eagle River.
Parker says the 50-yearold man was taken to Anchorage hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.
According to Parker, Eder had been hiking alone with his dog, which was not injured.
Parker says Sunday's attack occurred near the site of a nonfatal attack of a brown bear in May.
