Gerald L. Lake McConnellsburg, 85

Gerald L. “Pap” Lake, 85 , of McConnellsburg, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at his house with his family by his side.

He was born February 3, 1927, in Saluvia, Pa., the son of the late Bruce and Clara (Decker) Lake. He was married to the late Edith Smith Lake on June 14, 1948.

Along with being a meat cutter, he worked as a truck driver for various construction companies in the area.

He served in the United Startes Army from 1945- 1947, spending time in Germany. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Lois Shotts of Mc- Connellsburg; six grandchildren: Belinda (wife of Kenneth Jr.) Harr, Mindy (wife of Scott) Stallman, Kattie (wife of Ed) Colls, all of Mc- Connellsburg; Warren (husband of Tracie) Young of Everett; Mona Young of Breezewood, and James ( husband of Brittany) Young, of Dubois, Pa.; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ada Gress of Mc- Connellsburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Lake; his parents, Bruce and Clara Lake; one, brother Ray Lake; and one sister, Hazel Hann.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in Mc- Connellsburg. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be held at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Denver Plessinger officiating.
