Grace Bible Church Announces New Pastor

Norman Blowers, an ordained elder in the Bible Methodist Heartland Conference, has accepted a call to pastor the congregation.

Blowers was ordained in 1970 at Binghamton, N.Y. He served at churches in New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania for 27 years. A native of the Finger Lakes Region in western New York he moved to Franklin County in 1975.

He attended Allegheny Wesleyan College and Covington Theological Seminary and has earned a B.S. and M.A. in religious education.

Blowers is the oldest of eight siblings. Two brothers are pastors, and two sisters are wives of pastors.

He has served or worked on many boards, organizations and groups, including Chambersburg Area School District board member (current), board president of CASD since December 2009 (current), Lincoln Intermediate Unit board where he is currently board vice president Franklin Learning Center Board (current), 21st Century Partnership in Franklin County (current), secretary of Silver Spring Water Association current), Grace Bible Methodist Church board (current), Pilgrim Holiness Church of New York on many boards and committees, Learning Center coordinator at Tunkhannock Pilgrim School, social studies teacher at Shalom Christian Academy, Social Studies teacher, computer skills instructor, IT coordinator at Grace Academy, Hagerstown, Md., Cross Inc. board member, Roxbury Holiness Camp Meeting program coordinator, started Tunkhannock Pilgrim School, Franklin County Area Agency on Aging and Christian Light Bookstore in Chambersburg

Eileen Hawbaker Blowers, a Chambersburg native and his wife of 44 years, is a reading specialist for the Chambersburg Area School District at Stevens Elementary School. She has taught there for the past 19 years. She graduated from Shippensburg University with a B.A. in elementary education and a M.A. in reading specialist. She is director of children’s church and a keyboard musician. She also conducts children’s camps and VBS programs. She assembles her own children’s programs. She has given piano lessons from her home for many years.

Norman and Eileen have been attending members of Grace Church since 2009. Norman retired from teaching two years ago. He likes to hunt, fish, golf, read, learn new technologies, travel, visit the children and grandchildren, and maintaining his property and home. Eileen will retire from teaching next year. She enjoys reading, the grandchildren, kids’ ministry, travelling, playing piano and cooking.

They have two children, Annette and Matthew. Annette lives in Hobe Sound, Fla., with their granddaughter Grayce. Matthew lives in Orlando, Fla., with his wife, Kori, and children Kati and Charles.
