RELIGION

Bible School Vacation Bible School for ages 4-12 will be held at Hustontown Church of God July 18, 19 and 20. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. with Bible School from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each night. Youth Camp Fort Littleton Bible Church will host a youth camp for children ages 5-11. Children will arrive Friday, August 10, and stay until Sunday, August 12. Dismissal is at 2 p.m. Children ages 12 and up will be invited to participate in youth camp between Friday, August 10, thru Tuesday, August 14. Dismissal time will be at 11 a.m.

Summer Tent Revival Mountain View Baptist Church invites all to attend its summer tent revival from July 15-20. Service times are Sunday, 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Monday through Friday, 7 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to noon. Special music by the Hoy Family from West Virginia. The church is located at 12107 Walnut Point Road, Hagerstown.

Bible School Cito United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School July 23-27 each evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This will be a fun-filled week of Bible lessons, crafts, music, games, food and fun. Summer Youth Camp A summer youth camp will be held August 10-14, sponsored by Fort Littleton Bible Church. Check-in is August 10 at 2 p.m. and checkout August 12 at 2 p.m. for ages 5-11; and checkout for ages 10-14 is August 14 at 11 a.m. There will be a $10 registration fee for each camper. Registration forms are available by calling 987-4404 by July 30.

Bible School New Grenada Church of God will hold Bible School July 9-13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. More information may be obtained by calling Pastor Ken Cornelius at 685-3888.

RECREATION

Auction Come join in for a pleasant evening and good food Saturday, July 28, at the American Legion in McConnellsburg. Donations are being accepted by the Fulton County Historical Society for an auction to raise money to brick case the historic Fulton County Jail. Gift certificates or new, antique, or collectible items are welcome and may be taken to the county commissioners office during regular business hours. Donations are tax deductible and donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes after the auction. The silent auction is from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. and the traditional auction begins at 6:30 p.m. For tickets please call Monica at 485-4454, Glenn at 485-3172 or Dick at 485-3412.

Senior Center Activities Activities at the McConnellsburg Senior Center are as follows: nickel bingo, 9:30 a.m. - July 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 26; couch potato exercises, 11 a.m. - July 5, 12, 19, 26; lunch at Lincoln Way, noon - July 10; senior nutrition class, 10 a.m. - July 17; Belleville trip, 7 a.m. - July 18; community nutrition class, 1 p.m. - July 19; Cumberland trip, 7 a.m. - July 26; dime bingo, 9:30 a.m. - July 30.

Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center July 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Donation is a $1. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 717-294-6020.

Atlantic City Trip Hunters Helping Kids will be having a bus trip to Atlantic City August 18, 2012. Leave Hustontown Firehall at 6:30 a.m., and return around 11 p.m. Try your luck or just catch some rays on the beach or walk the boardwalk and see the sites. Cost is $55 per seat and $22 slot play from Tropicana with a buffet meal included in price. Games going down and back. All proceeds go to Hunters Helping Kids Mason-Dixon Chapter to take local kids in the outdoors.

Bluegrass/Gospel Music Festival A bluegrass/gospel music festival will be held at Bedford Chapel Church, Rt. 643, 4570 Flickerville Road, Warfordsburg, July 21 from 4:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Food stand and cake walks. Entertainment provided by Richard and Mary Fox with Higher Ground, Guildford Station and By Faith Ministries Gospel Singers. Bring lawnchairs.

Archery Shoots Letterkenny Rod and Gun Club will hold a 3-D archery shoot Sunday, July 22, from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday evening, July 25, from 4 p.m. to dusk at the recreation area. More information may be obtained by calling 717-375-4563.

Shoot For Life The 14th annual Shoot for Life will be held at Everett Sportsmen’s Club July 21. Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a 50-bird shoot. There will be T-shirts given to shooters. The cost to shoot is $20. Raffle items and food will be available. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Great Cove Baseball School Great Cove Baseball School is for players ages 8-12 to learn baseball fundamentals. The school is set for July 9, 10, 11 and 12, at Fulton County Little League field located in Lions Community Park, McConnellsburg. The sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. and wrap up at 3 p.m. Lunch is provided. Free T-shirts and prizes awarded. The instructors are Bob Thomas, Chambersburg High School baseball coach; Rod Bennett, Frederick Community College baseball coach; and Loy Garber, McConnellsburg High School baseball coach (retired). Open Stage Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage Saturday, July 28, beginning at 6 p.m. The kitchen will open at 5 p.m. Free admission.

Path Valley Homecoming The 105th annual Path Valley Picnic and Homecoming will be held August 15-18, at Hammond’s Grove, Route 75, north of Spring Run, sponsored by Fannett-Metal Volunteer Fire Co. Admission and parking are free. Everyone is welcome to attend. The annual parade will be held Thursday, August 16, at 6:30 p.m.

Cub Scout Carwash McConnellsburg Cub Scout Pack 43 will hold a carwash Saturday, July 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at Car Quest Auto Parts (formerly Thomas Chevrolet). Proceeds will benefit local Scout activities.

Swimming Lessons Great Cove Golf Course & Recreation Club will offer American Red Cross swimming lessons. The following sessions will be offered during the 2012 summer season: session #2 – July 9-20th; session #3 – July 30 – Aug. 10. Flag Football League Forming A list of those interested in a flag football league is being compiled for children ages kindergarten thru second grade to see if it would benefit organizing a league in the Hancock area. Christian Social Services Closed During the month of July, Christian Social Services of Fulton County will not hold set office hours but will serve clients by appointment only. Please call for an appointment at 717-485-5796.

Car Show McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends will sponsor a car, truck and motorcycle show July 14. Registration is from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Top 50 awards plus others. Cost is $10 to enter, $8 to enter before July 6 with preregistration. Games, breakfast, lunch, vendors, 50-50 drawing and dash plaques for first 100 vehicles. Used Book Sale Forbes Road Library will hold a used book sale July 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and July1 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Books for everyone. Books on sale have been weeded from the high school and elementary library collections. Sale will be held at the old high school in the office. There are also some older electronic items for sale. Fulton County Fair Participants Premium books are no longer being mailed to exhibitors. Please see local businesses starting July 2, 2012, to pick up this year’s copy. Reminder: Livestock entries must be received by July 15, 2012. Please mail to: Fulton County Fair, PO Box 246, McConnellsburg, PA 17233. Rabbit check-in will be Saturday, August 11, at noon. All other entries will be accepted on August 12 and 13 at the fair office. Payment of premiums contingent upon allocation of state fair funds.

Fulton County Farm Service Office Closures Due to limited staffing, Fulton County FSA office, located in Mc- Connellsburg, will be closed every Friday beginning July 6. FOOD & DINING

Ice Cream Festivals Fairview United Methodist Church will hold ice cream festivals this year on July 21 and September 8. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be sold. The festivals begin at 4 p.m. All are welcome.

Singles Picnic Knobsville Singles will hold a picnic at James Buchanan Park Monday, July 9, at 11 a.m. Bring a covered dish. More information may be obtained by calling Sherri at 987-3493.

Farm Women Picnic Fulton County Society of Farm Women will hold a picnic for members and their families Sunday, July 8, at James Buchanan’s birthplace. Hamburgers, hot dogs and rolls will be provided. Each member is asked to bring a hot or cold dish to share and place settings. Please RSVP to Beth at 485-9442 no later than July 1 with number attending.

Free Meal A free meal will be held July 10 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville. Pasta, salad, beverage and dessert served from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Come enjoy a meal and talk with neighbors.

Ice Cream Festival An ice cream festival will be held at Center United Methodist Church Saturday, July 14, beginning at 4 p.m. Served will be turkey with filling, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn, applesauce or coleslaw, soup, sandwiches, pie, cake and ice cream. The church is located one-half mile off Route 655, five miles north of Hustontown on Dublin Mills Road. Mark calendars for August 25 for the final festival of the year.

HEALTH

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. The cost is based on insurance. Call Kim or Patti at 717-485-6149 to see if insurance provider is accepted. Community Wellness is $40/month/person or $70/month/couple.

Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages every Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., at Community State Bank. Call for cost and to register at 717-485- 4492.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, it is held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch, call 717-294-6020.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building basement, McConnellsburg.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: McConnellsburg Senior Center the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments the second Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center the third Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Hustontown Senior Center the third Thursday of every month from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

MEETINGS

Animal League Meeting The next meeting of the Friends of Better Days Animal League will be Monday, July 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the BDAL Thrift Store. Please join in to learn more about BDAL, services and upcoming functions. This is a great opportunity to become involved as a volunteer for the community events or thrift store, all benefiting the lives of abandoned, abused and neglected animals. Anyone interested in providing support to BDAL, our Humane Society police officers, and improving the lives of all animals in Fulton County is welcome to attend.

MHS Soccer Booster Meeting MHS varsity boys and junior high soccer booster meeting will be held July 23 at 6 p.m. at the Lions Club pavilion.

Ashlyn’s Angels Meeting Ashlyn’ Angels, a nonprifit organization formed to help local families during hardships, will hold a meeting open to the public July 17 at McConnellsburg American Legion at 6 p.m. Anyone wishing to join please plan to attend. MHS Class Of 2007 Reunion The five-year reunion for McConnellsburg High School Class of 2007 will be held August 4 at 3 p.m. at the VFW campgrounds in Big Cove Tannery. Greenhill Reunion Cancelled The Greenhill alumni reunion has been cancelled for this year.

Edwards Reunion The descendants of William M. and Minnie (Foster) Edwards will hold their 47th annual Edwards reunion at Cowans Gap State Park Pavilion #4 Saturday, July 21, at noon.

Shore/Counins Reunion The Shore/Counins reunion will be held July 28 at Burnt Cabins Grist Mill. Lunch will be at noon. Bring a covered dish.
