McConnellsburg VFW Post 655 recently donated $1,000 to the Fulton County Historical Society. Richard Miller. Miller accepted the check on behalf of the Historical Society and said the society is now one step closer to its $62,000 goal of restoring the exterior appearance of the Fulton County Jail.

After other miscellaneous outdoor modifications are made, the outside of the jail will be refurbished using the Tru- Brix system that relies on oneinch thick bricks held in place by galvanized and polymercoated steel rails that are securely fastened to the brick wall through the stucco.

New windows, a new roof and other improvements have already been made to the jail, which is individually listed as a contributing building to the McConnellsburg Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
