Mic Night Held At Warfordsburg

There is a new drummer in town and his name is Matt Creek Jr. The 17- year-old wowed the audience with his rendition of “Wipe Out” at the Warfordsburg Senior Center June 9 event. Creeks’ first-time appearance received a round of applause and a request for an encore. Bob Burton sang several “oldies,” and Kate Beatty shared several all-time favorities backed by Jack Wink and others. Donnie McCusker presented a set of gospel music melodies. Mc- Cusker is well known for hs music and his old-time choices always please his audiences. Ken Ellison sang gospel songs and later shared humorous jokes. Jeanne Ward sang several songs, including “Oklahoma Hills where I was born.”

Other musicians with guitars, steel guitars, fiddle and lead guitars played backup for singers. They were Bob Myers, Harry Alger, Josh Caton and Floyd Palmer. Bob McDonald was MC for the event.

The next Mic Night at the center is scheduled for Saturday, July 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you play an instrument or sing, bring your talent to the next event or just come and enjoy the fellowship. Sometimes the entertainment continues until 10 p.m. “Some don't want to leave,” a member said. “We like to see folks have a good time.”
