Handbell Choir To Appear The community is invited to Cedar Grove Christian Church in Dott for a handbell choir Wednesday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature the concert handbell choir from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry, Conn., consisting of all high school students. RECREATION

Auction Come join in for a pleasant evening and good food Saturday, July 28, at the American Legion in McConnellsburg. Donations are being accepted by the Fulton County Historical Society for an auction to raise money to brick case the historic Fulton County Jail. Gift certificates or new, antique, or collectible items are welcome and may be taken to the county commissioners office during regular business hours. Donations are tax deductible and donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes after the auction. The silent auction is from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. and the traditional auction begins at 6:30 p.m. For tickets please call Monica at 485-4454, Glenn at 485-3172 or Dick at 485-3412.

Teen Night Teen night will be held at the McConnellsburg library, Friday, June 29, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free, all teens welcome. Wii, board games, craft, movies, books and music available. Enter through community room door.

Basketball Camp McConnellsburg boys basketball team will host a boys basketball camp for grades seventh thru 12th grade June 22-24. Any boys interested should contact Coach Swope at 485-4391 for more information before Friday, June 8.

Family Fun Day Buck Valley Park Association will hold a Family Fun Day Saturday, June 23. Food, fun and games for everyone.

Open Stage Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage Saturday, June 23, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Swimming Lessons Great Cove Golf Course & Recreation Club will offer American Red Cross swimming lessons. Hunter Ed Course Fulton County Hunter/Trapper Education course will be held Thursday, June 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required at www.pgc.state.pa.us. Click on education/hunter education class schedule. Class limit is 65 students. Bring a bag lunch on Saturday. Yard Sale A yard sale will be held at Hustontown Senior Center at 387 Cole Road, Hustontown, Friday, June 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., rain or shine.

Christian Social Services Closed During the months of June and July, Christian Social Services of Fulton County will not hold set office hours but will serve clients by appointment only. Please call for an appointment at 717-485-5796.

Living History At Library A local student will talk about her experience in the Peace Corps in Mali at the Living History at Fulton County Library Saturday, June 30 at 10 a.m. in the community room. Mali is a landlocked country in North West Africa. The Peace Corps mission is to provide technical assistance and to help Americans and people in other countries to know each other better.

Carwash Rehoboth New Life Youth will hold a carwash Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The youths will be receiving donations for future youth events. A portion of the donations will be donated to missions. Rehoboth New Life is located along Rt. 522 in Needmore, across from the firehall at the old GeneO’s.

Car Show McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends will sponsor a car, truck and motorcycle show July 14. Registration is from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Top 50 awards plus others. Cost is $10 to enter, $8 to enter before July 6 with preregistration. Games, breakfast, lunch, vendors, 50-50 drawing and dash plaques for first 100 vehicles. FOOD & DINING

Yard/Food Sale St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 N. Third St., McConnellsburg, will hold a yard/food sale June 21-22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the social room of the church. There will be a variety of sandwiches, homemade soups, pies and baked goods. Eat in or carry out. Anyone wishing to donate unwanted items should call 485-4227. Only children’s clothes will be accepted.

Farm Women Picnic Fulton County Society of Farm Women will hold a picnic for members and their families Sunday, July 8, at James Buchanan’s birthplace. Hamburgers, hot dogs and rolls will be provided. Each member is asked to bring a hot or cold dish to share and place settings. Please RSVP to Beth at 485-9442 no later than July 1 with number attending.

Benefit Breakfast A benefit breakfast will be held June 30, from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at Burnt Cabins Antique Barn. Proceeds benefit Ronald Hall, who is waiting for a kidney transplant. Please join in for a good breakfast and make the benefit successful. Donations only.

Free Meal A free meal will be held July 10 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville. Pasta, salad, beverage and dessert served from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Come enjoy a meal and talk with neighbors.

Ice Cream Festival An ice cream festival will be held at Center United Methodist Church Saturday, July 14, beginning at 4 p.m. Served will be turkey with filling, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn, applesauce or coleslaw, soup, sandwiches, pie, cake and ice cream. The church is located one-half mile off Route 655, five miles north of Hustontown on Dublin Mills Road. Mark calendars for August 25 for the final festival of the year.

Beef/Pig Roast A beef and pig roast fundraiser, catered by Long’s Catering, will be held June 23, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Cumberland Valley Relief Center, Marion, Pa. All donations benefit Cumberland Valley Relief Center. Please RSVP to the center for an accurate count at 717-375-2088.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center the first Thursday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments the second Monday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center the third Wednesday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Hustontown Senior Center the third Thursday of every month from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

CPR/First Aid Class A CPR/first aid certification class will be offered at Fulton County Library Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the library’s community room. Cost for the class is $25 which includes a book and certification card. Registration is required.

MEETINGS

Wells Tannery Homecoming Meeting There will be a homecoming planning meeting at Wells Tannery park Thursday evening, June 28, at 7 p.m. All are welcome to come and get involved. Anyone interested in being in the parade at 11 a.m. the day of the homecoming, please call 814-685-3399.

Farm Women Meeting The Fulton County Society of Farm Women will be attending Bedford attractions for their June meeting. They will be going on a self-guided tour of The Bedford Springs Resort, going to the National Museum of the American Coverlet, lunch at Hoss’s Steak House, followed by shopping at Sounders Crossings. Meet Saturday, June 23, at the Save-A-Lot parking lot at 8 a.m. to carpool. All members are encouraged to attend.

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet at noon Tuesday, June 26, at the home of Linda Garber, 794 Peach Orchard Road, McConnellsburg. Kennedy Reunion The 54th annual Kennedy reunion will be held Sunday, July 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Quincy Community Center, Quincy, Pa. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish, cake for the cake walk and a wrapped auction item. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Drinks and ice cream will be furnished.
