New Records Set At Local Hershey Track Meet

McConnellsburg High School track team sponsored the Hershey local track and field games Saturday, May 12, at the high school track. A total of 52 children from ages 9 to 14 participated. Sixteen new records were set on this picture perfect day.

Claire Brubaker, daughter of Leslie Brubaker and stepfather Jeremy Oakman, McConnellsburg; McKenzi Garlock, daughter of Eric and Cassandra Garlock, McConnellsburg; Serena Largent and Amber Strait, daughter of Timmy and Miranda Strait of Harrisonville, all set a new meet record in the 13-14-year-old girls division during the games.

The girls ran the 4x100- meter relay in :59.79 setting a new meet record. Largent also placed first in the softball throw at 95 feet, 7 inches and first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of :14.85.

Garlock also placed first in the 200-meter run with a time of :30.66 and set a new meet record and sixth in the standing long jump, jumping 5 feet, 3 inches.

Strait placed seventh in the standing long jump at 5 feet, 1-1/2 inches and second in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:56.20.

Brubaker placed fourth in the standing long jump at 5 feet, 5-3/4 inches and second in the 1600-meter dash with a time of 6:34.42.

The girls will travel to Somerset High School June 23 to compete in the 4x100-meter dash relay and Largent will also compete in the softball throw and 100-meter dash, while Garlock competes also in the 200-meter run and Strait competes in the 1600-meter run at the district level.

Josh Booth, son of Patrick and Teresa Booth of McConnellsburg; Chad and Garrett Bunch, sons of Randy and Donna Bunch of McConnellsburg; and Ian DeShong, son of Ryan and Lisa DeShong of Harrisonville, set new meet records in the 11-12-year-old boys division.

The boys ran the 4x100- meter relay in 1:07.55, setting a new meet record. Booth also placed first and set a new record in the 800-meter run with a a time of 2:54.35. Josh also placed fourth in the standing long jump at 5 feet, 10 inches.

Chad Bunch placed first and set a new record in the standing long jump at 6 feet 7-3/4 inches and in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:25.73.

Garrett Bunch placed eighth in the standing long jump at 4 feet, 7-1/2 inches and fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of :17.78.

Ian DeShong placed fifth in the standing long jump at 5 feet, 6 inches and second in the 100-meter dash with a time of :16.21.

The boys will travel to Somerset High School June 23 to compete in the 4x100-meter dash relay. Chad Bunch will compete in the standing long jump, and Booth will compete in the 800-meter run at the district level.

Katelyn Truax set a new meet record in the 9- 10-year-old girls division softball throw. She is the daughter of Kevin and Kellee Truax of McConnellsburg. She three 80 feet, 8 inches. She also placed second in the 100- meter dash with a time of :18.33 and third in the 200- meter dash with a time of :39.78.

Kellyn Perry, daughter of Kelly and Sheri Perry of McConnellsburg, set two new meet records in the 11-12-year- old division during the meet. She ran the 400-meter dash in 1:14.77 and ran the 800- meter run in 2:56.28, setting a new meet record in both events. She also placed second in the softball throw at 73 feet, 10 inches. She will compete June 23 in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter dash at districts.

Alexis and Aryanna Lupey, Leah Seville and Taylor Walls set new meet record in the 11-12-yearold girls division during the meet.

Alexis and Aryanna are the daughters of John and Susan Lupey of Mc- Connellsburg. Alexis placed fourth in the standing long jump at 4 feet, 11 3/4 inches and third in the 100-meter dash with a time of :16.43. Aryanna placed first in the softball throw at 83 feet, 8 inches and second in the 200-meter dash with a time of :34.91.

Leah Seville, daughter of Brent and Mary K. Seville of McConnellsburg, placed second in the standing long jump at 5 feet, 4 1/4 inches and fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of :17.24.

Alexia and Aryanna Lupey, Leah Seville and Taylor Walls, daughter of Bryan and Melinda Walls of McConnellsburg, ran the 4x100-meter relay in 1:10.19, setting a new meet record.

The girls will compete at districts in the 4x100- meter dash relay, and Aryanna will also compete in the softball throw and in the 200-meter dash.

Michaela Kendall, daughter of Tracy Kendall of McConnellsburg and Michael Kendall of Greencastle, set two new records in the 13-14-yearold girls division. She ran the 800-meter dash in 2:53.68 and ran the 1600- meter run in 6:12.90. She also placed second in the standing long jump at 5 feet, 10 1/4 inches.

Shawn Garlock, son of Eric and Cassandra Garlock of McConnellsburg, set a new record in the 13-14-year-old boys division. He ran the 800-meter dash in 2:39.53 and placed first in the 1600- meter run in 5:58.11 and also placed first in the standing long jump at 6 feet, 9 1/2 inches. He will compete at districts in the standing long jump, 800-meter run and the 1600-meter run.
