RELIGION

Revival Revival services will be held at Black Oak Independent Bible Church, Stonybreak Road, Warfordsburg, June 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and June 17 at 6:30 p.m. Speaker will be Rev. J.C. Thornton from Somerset, Ky.

Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held at Fairview United Methodist Church on North Hess Road, Harrisonville, June 18-21, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each evening. Friday, June 22, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with VBS program at 7:15 p.m. The theme is Adventures on Promise Island where kids discover God’s lifesaving love. Come and share in an adventure each day as kids learn to apply the Bible story to their lives and talk about God’s promise for the day.

Bible School New Grenada Church of God will hold Bible School July 9-13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. More information may be obtained by calling Pastor Ken Cornelius at 685-3888.

Handbell Choir To Appear The community is invited to Cedar Grove Christian Church in Dott for a handbell choir Wednesday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature the concert handbell choir from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry, Conn., consisting of all high school students. Bible School Laurel Ridge Church will hold Vacation Bible School June 18-22, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each evening, for ages 3 and up.

Memorial Service Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service honoring Helen M. Stahle at Amaranth Church of the Brethren, 2709 McKees Gap Road, Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. Refreshments will be served in the church dining hall folloiwng the service.

RECREATION

Auction Come join in for a pleasant evening and good food Saturday, July 28, at the American Legion in McConnellsburg. Donations are being accepted by the Fulton County Historical Society for an auction to raise money to brick case the historic Fulton County Jail. Gift certificates or new, antique, or collectible items are welcome and may be taken to the county commissioners office during regular business hours. Donations are tax deductible and donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes after the auction. The silent auction is from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. and the traditional auction begins at 6:30 p.m. For tickets please call Monica at 485-4454, Glenn at 485-3172 or Dick at 485-3412.

Basketball Camp McConnellsburg boys basketball team will host a boys basketball camp for grades seventh thru 12th grade June 22-24. Any boys interested should contact Coach Swope at 485-4391 for more information before Friday, June 8.

Family Fun Day Buck Valley Park Association will hold a Family Fun Day Saturday, June 23. Food, fun and games for everyone.

Pony League Tournament Fulton County Pony League will hold a tournament Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17, at Lions Club Community Park (top and bottom fields). The local team will play at 9:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., with at least one more game on Sunday. All are welcome. No admission charge. Concession stand will be open.

Wounded Warrior Ride Americans Supporting Wounded Warrior Project will hold a motorcycle ride Saturday, June 16. Ride from Hilly Valley Inn to Mountain House Bar & Grill in support of the armed forces. Held rain or shine. Registration will be held between 11 a.m .and 3 p.m. at Hill Valley Inn, 14679 Hill Valley Road, Mount Union. Donation is $25. All proceeds benefit Wounded Warrior Project. Open Stage Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage Saturday, June 23, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Jamboree “Pull’in for Missions” country/bluegrass/gospel jamboree will be held Saturday June 16, Widmyer Park, Hancock, from 1 p.m. to dark. Lots of food, activities including free swimming, silent auction, volleyball, pony rides, face-painting, Father’s Day craft, tennis and games. Live music throughout the day: “Take Two,” “Mellott and Friends,” Hancock Arts Council Sting Band, “Porch Pickers,” “Methodists Unplugged.” Sponsored by Hancock United Methodist Church Outreach Missions Committee. Donations benefit New Mexico Work Project Mission Trip to a Navajo reservation.

Card Party The McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will sponsor an old-fashioned free card party Saturday, June 16, starting at 6 p.m. in the alumni community building in McConnellsburg. Mellott Memorial Golf Tournament Fulton County Community Christian School will host the 11th annual Forrest R. Mellott Memorial Golf Tournament Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Great Cove Golf Course, McConnellsburg. This tournament will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. Top prize for the tournament is $1,000. Swimming Lessons Great Cove Golf Course & Recreation Club will offer American Red Cross swimming lessons. Hunter Ed Course Fulton County Hunter/Trapper Education course will be held Thursday, June 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Preregistration is required at www.pgc.state.pa.us. Click on education/hunter education class schedule. Class limit is 65 students. Bring a bag lunch on Saturday. Summer Reading Program Free family fun. Kickoff for the summer reading program is Friday, June 15, at Fulton County Library in McConnellsburg at 10 a.m. with Paul Hadfield as General Foolishness.

Living History At Library A local student will talk about her experience in the Peace Corps in Mali at the Living History at Fulton County Library Saturday, June 30 at 10 a.m. in the community room. Mali is a landlocked country in North West Africa. The Peace Corps mission is to provide technical assistance and to help Americans and people in other countries to know each other better.

Fulton County Farm Service Office Closures Due to limited staffing, Fulton County FSA office, located in McConnellsburg, will be closed on the following dates: June 15; June 29. Yard Sale A yard sale will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center June 14 and 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tables inside the center are available for rent for $2 and spaces outside the center are available for $5. For more information, call 717-294- 6020.

FR Soccer Registration Forbes Road AYSO fall soccer early registration will be held June 14, 18 and 19 at Forbes Road Lions Club baseball fields at 6 p.m. Early registration fee is $35 for ages 4 and up. FOOD & DINING

Yard/Food Sale St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 N. Third St., McConnellsburg, will hold a yard/food sale June 21-22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the social room of the church. There will be a variety of sandwiches, homemade soups, pies and baked goods. Eat in or carry out. Anyone wishing to donate unwanted items should call 485-4227. Only children’s clothes will be accepted.

Ice Cream Festival Knobsville United Methodist Church will hold an ice cream festival June 16. The menu will consist of a variety of soups and all kinds of ice cream, sandwiches, french fries, pies, cakes, sodas, coffee and water. The festival will start at 4 p.m. There will be entertainment by the Saylor family. All are welcome.

Festival Siloam United Methodist Church will hold its first festival of the season June 16 at 4 p.m. Served will be soup, sandwiches, pie, french fries, homemade ice cream, etc. The church is located south of Harrisonville on Rt. 655. Music, featuring the Country Christians, will start at approximately 5 p.m.

Beef/Pig Roast A beef and pig roast fundraiser, catered by Long’s Catering, will be held June 23, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Cumberland Valley Relief Center, Marion, Pa. All donations benefit Cumberland Valley Relief Center. Please RSVP to the center for an accurate count at 717-375-2088.

Festival St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Big Cove Tannery, will hold a festival June 16, at 4 p.m. Menu includes homemade ice cream, soups, pies and cakes, barbecue, hamburgers and hot dogs. Entertainment provided by the County Classics band from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The church is located five miles south of McConnellsburg on Route 522.

Festival Buck Valley Park Association will hold a festival on Saturday, June 16. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. with games and bingo beginning at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by Rusty Mc- Combee and Morgan County Line.

Free Meal St. Paul Lutheran Church at 220 North Third Street, McConnellsburg, will serve a free meal the second Tuesday of each month from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Come and enjoy good food and fellowship.

Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages every Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., at Community State Bank. Call for cost and to register at 717-485- 4492.

Zumba Fitness Reaching Wellness Zumba fitness class will be held for all ages every Friday, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Mc- Connellsburg Alumni & Friends building. CPR/First Aid Class A CPR/first aid certification class will be offered at Fulton County Library Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the library’s community room. MEETINGS

Farm Women Meeting The Fulton County Society of Farm Women will be attending Bedford attractions for their June meeting. They will be going on a self-guided tour of The Bedford Springs Resort, going to the National Museum of the American Coverlet, lunch at Hoss’s Steak House, followed by shopping at Sounders Crossings. Meet Saturday, June 23, at the Save-A-Lot parking lot at 8 a.m. to carpool. All members are encouraged to attend.

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, in the community room of Fulton County Library, North First Street, McConnellsburg. Mary Myers will teach a class on quilted tote bags. Please bring one yard of pre-quilted fabric, extra fabric for pockets, 1/4 yard (WOF) of binding, 1/4 yard (WOF) for piping, hook and loop closure (velcro), matching thread, sewing machine, extension cord, mat and rotary cutter and scissors. Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery June 15. The sportsmen will not meet during the months of July and August 2012. Please direct questions or concerns to a board member listed in the spring newsletter.

Garden Club Meeting North End Garden Club will meet at noon Tuesday, June 26, at the home of Linda Garber, 794 Peach Orchard Road, McConnellsburg. PARSE Meetings Cancelled Fulton County PARSE Chapter 127 will not hold meetings June, July and August. Meetings will continue in September.

Legion Meeting American Legion Post 561 active members regular meeting is the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. Auxiliary members meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Members of both organizations are urged to attend.

REUNIONS

Kennedy Reunion The 54th annual Kennedy reunion will be held Sunday, July 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Quincy Community Center, Quincy, Pa. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish, cake for the cake walk and a wrapped auction item. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Drinks and ice cream will be furnished. Mellott Reunion The descendants of Clarence/Thornton and Mabel will hold their annual reunion at Needmore Community Center Scoutgrounds in Needmore Sunday, July 1. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish. Plan to attend and invite others.

BINGO

McCbg. Bingo McConnellsburg Fire Co. will hold bingo every Monday and Friday of each week. Bingo starts at 7:00 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m. Bingo starts at 1:00 p.m. and doors open at 11:00 a.m. Forty games and meal plus snacks for $25.
