New Members Welcome At Lions Club
To The Editor
I’m writing as a member and president of McConnellsburg Lions Club. Our club owns operates and maintains the Lions Community Park in McConnellsburg. Our club provides a place for caring community members to make a difference in our own backyard. We also provide the venue for children from all over the Fulton County to participate in baseball, soccer, softball and football. It is also the home to a wonderful playground used by the entire community and built by community members.
In the last several years we’ve expanded the park to include new athletic fields and a walking track, as well as new parking. Our constant park improvement marches on with a new batting and golf facility under construction as we speak. We’re also in the process of adding new dugouts and a scorekeeper building to one of our secondary fields. The Lions Club has been a vital and caring part of this community for more than 75 years. Still, as with all volunteer organizations, we are only as strong and active as our membership. We meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month. In the summer we meet at the park and in the winter at the American Legion in McConnellsburg.
Traditionally, the changing of the seasons gives us a chance to gather at the Narrows Gun Club and enjoy a good steak with members and friends. We’d like to invite anyone interested in joining our club to that gathering June 12. Join us for a relaxing meal and a chance to get to know your McConnellsburg Lions. We’d love to welcome you into our club as we strive to improve the community in which we are lucky enough to live. Feel free to call or stop by my office at 200 North Second Street on the square, and we’ll make sure we have a steak for you and directions to the Narrows.
