MHS To Hold Graduation Services May 31
Nicholas Gordon McClure is the Class of 2012 valedictorian. He is the son of Don and Kathy McClure. During his high school career, Nick has achieved the honor of being on the All “A” Honor Roll 13 times. He has also received numerous other academic awards, such as the United States Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award and the Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Award.
His high school activities include band, chorus, chorus ensemble, Odyssey of the Mind, Envirothon, and student forum. Nick is the senior class treasurer, president of the National Honor Society and yearbook editor. He has participated in five high school musicals and was the stage manager for two senior plays.
Nick has been accepted into the honors program at Shippensburg University and will be majoring in political science in the fall of 2012.
Dakota is vice president of the class. Her awards include AB honor roll, Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award, President’s Award for Academic Excellence, Spanish TV/Video II Award, AP English Literature Award, photography award, high school chorus award, honor roll award, Spanish IV award including past awards in Spanish TV/Video I, Spanish III, and All “A” honor roll. She was named to the 2011 Sideling Hill and ICC All Star team for soccer.
During high school Deneen was a member of the National Honor Society, serving as vice president; varsity club; Envirothon club; Students Against Destructive Decisions; chorus secretary; district chorus; yearbook; and student forum. She also participated in varsity soccer, cheerleading, track and field, varsity softball, basketball and the musicals.
Deneen was named 2011 Prom Queen and coached AYSO U-6 and was referee for AYSO U-8-U- 12 from 2009 to present. For her community service, she volunteered for the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce from 2008 until the present, and she tutored elementary students. For her senior project she taught second graders basic Spanish.
Deneen is employed by Lake Insurance Marketing and she will attend Shippensburg University, majoring in biology with a concentration in pre-dentistry.
Emily Nicole Watkins is the senior with the third highest scholastic average. She is the daughter of Ray and Kim Watkins.
She was the recipient of the Noreen Mann Musical Award and is secretary for the Class of 2012. Watkins participated in volleyball, track and field, cheerleading and varsity slub. Other activities she took part in were National Honor Society; chorus, where she served as president; ensemble; yearbook; FFA; Students Against Destructive Decisions; and the annual musicals.
Watkins belongs to My Father’s House Ministries youth group and is the reigning 2011 Fulton County Fair Queen. For her community service, she worked backstage with the costumes for the musicals and tutored elementary students, and for her senior project, she hosted a golf tournament benefitting Alzheimer’s disease.
Watkins will be attending Millersville University majoring in chemistry.
Jessica Vienna Nero, daughter of Tina Hall and Paul Nero, achieved the fourth highest scholastic ranking in the class.
In high school she participated in varsity volleyball, cheerleading and track and field. Other activities she took part in were National Honor Society, varsity club, yearbook, band front, Students Against Destructive Decisions and the high school musicals. Jessica was president of the varsity club, secretary of the National Honor Society and held a captain position in track.
She received the award for Academic Excellence and the Marine Corps Athletic Excellence Award. In the fall, she plans on attending Duquesne University, majoring in pre-pharmacy.
