Nancy L. Horne, 66, Orlando, Fla., died at 6:05 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.
Born March 19, 1946, in Wells Tannery, she was the daughter of Harry K. “Fiddle” Johnson and the late Wilma L. (Swope) Johnson. He survives, along with his companion, Winifred Newman, of Waterfall.
She is survived by three children: Heidi L. Roude and husband Vadim, Winter Springs, Fla.; Devin C. Horne and wife Mindy, Hustontown; Heather L. Horne-Perozo and husband Isayah, Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren: Coral, Emra, Orion, Camryn, Tayah and Taliyah; one brother, Robert Johnson, Wells Tannery; along with an uncle, Richard “Dick” Johnson, also of Wells Tannery.
A graduate of Forbes Road High School, she served as a missionary in remote villages in Haiti for more than 20 years, starting in 1967. She was a nurse and, along with others, was instrumental in starting churches, schools and clinics while in the mission field. All three of her children were born and raised in Haiti.
Since 1990 she owned and operated Excelsior Health Clinic, with locations in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She treated patients from all over the world, including many from Fulton County. She was the author of a series of four books on natural healing. “Miss Nancy,” as she was known to many, was an emotional support pillar for those in need. She was always putting others first and willing to serve them in any way possible.
She loved the outdoors, nature and bird feeding/ watching One of her most recent delights was speaking to congregations, churches and Bible study groups about God and healing.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Wells Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, Wells Tannery, with Rev. Kenneth Cornelius officiating.
