Harry F. Fischer Hedgesville, W.Va., 79

Harry Frederick Fischer, 79, Hedgesville, W.Va., died Friday, May 18, 2012, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.

Born February 5, 1933, in Hazelton, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry William and Edith Elizabeth Kilmore Fischer.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs. He was a graduate of Hazelton High School, Hazelton, Pa., and then served with both the U.S. Navy and as a corporal with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60 in Berkeley Springs and the American Legion in Sellersville, Pa. He retired from EMC in Doylestown, Pa., where he worked in all phases of information technology.

He was an outdoorsman, loved to play the lottery and loved his dog, “Corky,” and his cat, “Roger.”

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Mary Kathryn Keefer Fischer, at home; two sons: David Michael Fischer and his wife, Cheryl, Peoria, Ariz., and Robert Harry Fischer and his wife, Linda, Sellersville, Pa.; one daughter, Sandra Kay Luckenbaugh, Winchester, Va.; two sisters: Carolyn Fareller and her husband, James, Limerick, Pa., and Florence Neizer and her husband, Donald, Phoenixville, Pa.; 14 grandchildren: Michael Fischer and his wife, Nancy, Bishop, Texas; Tessa Kohn and Ross Kohn, both of Berkeley, Calif.; Christina Fischer, Sarah Fischer and Robbie Fischer, all of Sellersville; Ashley Louise Weidner and Robyn Mae Widner, both of Gardners, Pa.; Samantha Abigayle Luckenbaugh, Gettysburg; Victoria Winona Tyler, Warfordsburg; Steven Allen Ward Jr., Pottstown, Pa.; Nicholas Casper Ward, Baltimore; Corey Boyd Beck and Kyle Kenneth GregoryBeck, both of Beech Creek, Pa.; two great-grandchildren: Marie Fischer and Colleen Fischer, both of Sellersville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Annette Ward; a son, Steven Allen Ward Sr., and a sister, Betty Young.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Friday, May 25, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Liberty and S. Washington streets, Berkeley Springs. Rev. Fr. Leonard A. Smith will serve as celebrant. Military honors will be provided by Tri-State Honor Guard. Interment will be private.
