SF Class of 2012 To Hold Commencement Exercises May 24
Steven Anthony Meyer, son of Raymond and Ann Meyer of Amaranth, has earned the position of valedictorian for the Class of 2012. In addition to working hard on his academics, Steven is also very busy with many other extracurricular activities. He is president of the National Honor Society, as well as his senior class. He is active in Scholastic Scrimmage, Student Forum, FFA, Spanish Club, Envirothon, and track and field. He has been honored with numerous awards throughout his high school career. During his junior year, Steven was District 5 champion in javelin and went on to place 15th at the PIAA state track meet. As a senior, he has broken the school javelin record and is working hard to return to states again and improve on last year. He has also earned awards in good citizenship, biology, physics and math. As valedictorian, Steven is excited to share his speech, “Following Your Dreams”, on graduation night. Steven would like to thank his family, teachers, and friends for all their support through the years. He plans to attend the Pennsylvania State University at University Park, where he will major in engineering. of Andy and Kristi Mellott of Needmore, is the salutatorian of the Class of 2012. Justin has not only displayed his accomplishments through his hard work and dedication, but also through his extracurricular activities, such as the National Honor Society, the FFA organization, Spanish Club and senior high chorus. Justin has the responsibility of delivering his speech, entitled “Our Possibilities are Endless,” at graduation. He will discuss past and future endeavors for all of his fellow classmates. Justin’s post-graduate plan is to attend Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, Pa., majoring in physical therapy.
Hannah Olivia Williams, daughter of Carol Barnhardt and Roger Williams, has achieved the third rank in the Southern Fulton Class of 2012. She is an avid member of the National Honor Society (serving as the secretary), Drama Club, Student Forum, Spanish Club, and track and field. She has been the recipient of various scholastic awards throughout her high school career, including English and philosophy, as well as lettering in track and field. Hannah anxiously awaits May 24 graduation day, to give her speech, “Lessons from Small Town, USA.” Coming from a small town has afforded Southern Fulton students the opportunity to learn particular life lessons, as she will discuss. Her future plans are to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania to attain her master’s degree in speech pathology education.
Gary Lee Swope, son of Gary and Nichole Swope of Needmore, has earned the fourth rank in the Southern Fulton Class of 2012. Gary is actively involved as a member of the yearbook staff, Spanish Club, and as a National Honor Society officer. In addition, he has participated in school musicals throughout his high school career. Gary has received various awards, including distinguished honor roll, presidential scholarship and several scholastic awards in math, science and English. Gary will address his class on May 24 with his speech, “Years Gone but Never Forgotten,” dealing with the trials, errors and growth of the class. His post-graduate plan is to attend the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, majoring in preliminary medicine to become a pediatrician.
