Marie E. Stewart Hancock, 63

Marie E. Stewart, 63, Hancock, died Thursday May 10, 2012, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, Md.

Born March 13, 1949, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Carl E. Sr. and Thelma Geraldine Clingerman Wertman, and wife of Talmadge Oakley “Sarge” Stewart, who she married on April 5, 1970, at Hancock Church of the Nazarene.

She was a member of Hancock Church of the Nazarene, was a 1967 graduate of Hancock High School, and a member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed needlepoint, quilting and spending time with her family.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Charmaine K. “Katie” Harden, and husband Dale of Hancock; two sons: Brian L. Stewart and Michael P. “Mike” Stewart and wife Stephanie, both of Hancock; three sisters: Esther S. Mullenix, Williamsport, Md.; Deborah Baum, Staten Island, N.Y.; Pamela G. Wertman, Hagerstown; three brothers: Carl E. Wertman, Jr, McConnellsburg; William H. Wertman, California City, Calif.; and Timothy M. Wertman, Harrisonville; five grandchildren; and a number on nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St. Hancock. Rev Jimmy Jeffries officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Artemas.
