Hawbaker Receives Dekalb Agricultural Award

McConnellsburg FFA senior, Kristin Hawbaker was chosen to receive the 2012 Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment award for the chapter.

Kristin, daughter of Holly Stains and Joe Hawbaker, received the award for excellence in academics, leadership, and supervised agriculture experience (SAE) program. Her SAE program for the last three years has included keeping records on the market swine and steers she shows at the Fulton County Fair. In addition to having an active SAE program, Kristin has been an important leader in the chapter, holding the position of president and secretary her senior and junior years. She is a strong advocate for agriculture and her favorite career development event is public speaking, where she shares her knowledge of agriculture with the general public.

Kristin will be attending Penn State Altoona next year and plans on majoring in agriculture business and genetics.
