The weather was great for Mother’s Day weekend.

Hustontown Fire Co. reported a great turnout for the Mother’s Day meal on Sunday.

June Bennett of Carlisle spent Friday and Saturday with her mother, Kate Berkstresser. Harold and Jeffrey Berkstresser also stopped by on Friday. Joan Houck stopped to visit with June.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage Saturday, May 26, at 6 p. m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Free admission and everyone is welcome to come and share their talent or just come and enjoy the talent of others. Expect to have a nice evening. We hope to see you there.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a food auction Saturday, June 2, at 2 p. m. Kitchen opens at noon. The vendor will be Mike Sullivan, with a wide variety of items to be auctioned off.

Hustontown Fire Co. wishes to thank everyone for their support with fundraisers. You make their job easier.

McConnellsburg and Cito United Methodist churches will present a program of “Children of Eden” on Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19, at 7 p.m. at Cito United Methodist Church, 3746 Cito Road, McConnellsburg.

Fairview United Methodist Church will hold a chicken barbecue Saturday, May 19 at 4 p.m.

Breakfast Bible study will be held Saturday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Everyone is asked to attend and bring a breakfast dish to share. Come and enjoy the morning of food and study at Knobsville United Methodist Church.

Garden Hint: Turn up the heat on garden pests. Teach rodents to stay out of your vegetable garden with a mixture of one gallon of water and three ounces of cayenne pepper. Mix it up and pour it over the plants you want to protect.
