Local FFAs Hold County Public Speaking Contest

On Thursday, March 29, McConnellsburg FFA Chapter hosted the annual FFA county public speaking contest in conjunction with Southern Fulton and Forbes Road FFA chapters.

The members presented speeches that they wrote to a panel of judges. Several types of speeches could be given. In the junior prepared category, students presented a 3-5 speech on a topic in agriculture. Mc- Connellsburg FFA members Sarah Wenschhof, Grace Youngblood and DeAnne Dickerson came in first, second and fifth respectively.

Southern Fulton FFA members Tim Mottern and Kim Stotler came in third and sixth respectively. Seniors gave a 6-8 minute speech. Mc- Connellsburg member Kristin Hawbaker came in first, Micheal Fogal and Justin Fogal of Southern Fulton came in second and third respectively. McConnellsburg’s Tyler Long came in fourth and Brandon Remsburg of Southern Fulton came in fifth.

Kristin, Michael, Justin, Tim, Grace and Sara then went on to compete in the Blair, Bedford, Fulton area public speaking contest in Martinsburg, Pa., on April 12.
