Man Charged In Shooting Snake Breeder
RIDLEY, Pa. (AP) – Police say they’ve figured out the identity of the cold-blooded criminal who shot a Pennsylvania snake dealer in January.
Ridley Township police say 32-year-old Rasheem Dowdy set up the snake purchase then robbed breeder Mark Haas in a suburban Philadelphia parking lot on Jan. 22.
Police say Hass expected to sell 20 baby pythons and a 6-foot adult to a buyer for $12,600, but instead was shot when the would-be buyer pulled a gun and demanded his SUV. The driver crashed a short distance away and fled on foot.
The Delaware County Daily Times reports Dowdy, of Allentown, is currently charged with rape in New York City. Online court records for the Pennsylvania case don’t list an attorney for him.
Haas has been released from a hospital.
