Gas Well Services Firm Lays Off 30
BRADFORD, Pa. (AP) – A national company that provides natural gas well drilling products and services has laid off 30 people in northwestern Pennsylvania, citing the economic downturn and falling gas prices.
The Bradford Era reports Friday that two officials with Superior Well Services, headquartered in Indiana, Pa., confirmed the layoffs but declined to provide other information, including the company's employment figures. The headquarters in Indiana is about 45 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. The company has another office in Bradford, about 130 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
It was not immediately clear where the laid off workers had been based or whether they could eventually be recalled.
The company's Web site says it provides “technical pumping and downhole surveying services” to oil and gas drillers. The company was founded in 1997 with two service centers but now operates in several states.
