Hospital CEO Hawkins To Attend White House Meeting

The CEO of Fulton County Medical Center has been selected to attend a meeting at the White House on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Jason Hawkins will meet with members of the president’s cabinet to discuss unique healthcare challenges in rural areas and the role of the Affordable Care Act in addressing those challenges.

The White House meeting coincides with an announcement of $10.4 million in funding for 70 rural communities under the Rural HealthCare Services Outreach

Services grant program. Hosted by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack, the meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the White House Rural Council to focus on the vitality of rural America and enhance the ability of Federal programs to meet the needs of Americans living in small towns. The meeting includes rural physicians, dentists, nurses, mental health providers and hospital administrators from across the country.
