Crematorium Opens Here

Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home owner Brett Cornelius announced the completed permitting, testing and opening of a crematorium to provide on site cremation service, the first such business located in Fulton County.

Located to the rear of the Mc- Connellsburg funeral home, the cremation incinerator, is housed in a 28x38 existing building which has been renovated to be a crematorium.

The incinerator operates at 1,400-2,100 degrees and has minimal emission or discharge from the stack. The incinerator furnace was erected by B&L Cremation Systems of Largo, Florida. McConnellsburg Borough Council approved the project at its December, 2011 meeting.

The testing and state certification of the facility was completed on Thursday of last week.

Cornelius said that more and more families are choosing cremation and now those services are available here in the immediate area. In addition Cornelius said because everything is located here they can offer discounted prices to customers and clients in Fulton County.
