David K. Morton Jr. McConnellsburg, 86

David Kenneth Morton Jr., 86, McConnellsburg, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Fulton County Medical Center.

He was born July 5, 1925, in Big Cove Tannery, the son of the late David and Sarah (Henry) Morton. He was married to Mary Mellott Morton on February 26, 1944.

He was a farmer on the family farm until 1964 when he purchased Morton’s Feed Mill in Webster’s Mill, Pa., until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church. He was very active in the community and was a member of many civic organizations, includingMc- Connellsburg Lions Club, McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co., Altoona Shrine, Locking’s Gun Club, Rocky Mountain Hunting Club, Mt. Zion Lodge 774 and a board member of Mc- Connellsburg Sewerage Authority.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Ellen Morton of McConnellsburg; one daughter, Patsy (wife of John) Johnston of McConnellsburg, and one son, Gary D. (husband of Trudy) Morton of McConnellsburg; four granddaughters: Lori (wife of Mike) Kaiser, Becky Kipe, Amanda (wife of Mike) Bailey and Kendra Richards; five greatgranddaughters; two greatgrandsons; two step-granddaughters; two step-grandsons and four step-greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Betty Bivens of Big Cove Tannery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Sarah Morton, and one brother, JackMorton.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 22, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc. in Mc- Connellsburg. Interment was at Union Cemetery. Rev. John Godissart officiated.
