Pa. Man Charged With Friends’ Cycle Crash Deaths

GREENVILLE, Pa. (AP) – A western Pennsylvania man is jailed on charges he caused a crash that killed two friends riding on another motorcycle.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Joseph Diefenderfer, of Fredonia, who was arrested Sunday on charges including two counts of vehicular homicide and driving with a license suspended because of a past drunken driving conviction.

Greenville police say Diefenderfer was riding a motorcycle along with another one that crashed killing 25- year-old Benjamin Alabran and 21-year-old Cassandra Keck, both of Greenville.

Police say they learned all three had been at a bar before they crashed while southbound on Route 18 about 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

Diefenderfer remained in the Mercer County Jail on Monday. Police say he claimed the other bike hit his from behind, but that paint from the rear of Alabran's motorcycle shows the opposite occurred.
