Northern Bedford 1

Southern Fulton’s Marley Elbin had a strong day both offensively and defensively for the Lady Indians, who rolled to a 6- 1 win over Northern Bedford. Winning the Sideling Hill League game last Thursday, Elbin struck out a whopping 10 batters and gave up only one earned run. At the plate, Elbin added a double and three RBIs.

Fannett-Metal 8

Forbes Road 1

Fannett- Metal’s star pitcher Jenna Rhodes was too much for Forbes Road to handle last Thursday. The Tigers prevailed in the Sideling Hill League match by the score of 8-1, while the Cardinals’ pitching headed by Haley Lashinsky took the loss. Lashinsky closed out the seven-inning match-up with nine strikeouts, two walks, 11 hits and seven earned runs.

Chestnut Ridge 11

McConnellsburg 1

The season record for the McConnellsburg Lady Spartans dropped to 3-5 last Thursday when Chestnut Ridge prevailed using the 10- run rule. Losing the league match 11-1, Spartan pitcher Alexus Mellott tallied five strikeouts, four walks and six earned runs.

The Forbes Road Lady Cardinals picked up their first- ever team win last Wednesday evening thereby snapping a 64-game losing streak. Downing the Everett Warriors 9-7, pitcher Haley Lashinksy lasted seven innings for her first win. Lashinksy had five strikeouts, three walks, five hits and only four earned runs. Braylin Hohman led the offense effort batting four-forfive with three singles, a double and two RBIs. Corri Parsons chimed in for three hits, which included a double. Lashinksy rounded out the Sideling Hill League match with a triple.

McConnellsburg 8

Trailing by six runs, Southern Fulton fought its way back last Tuesday night, defeating the Mc- Connellsburg Lady Spartans by the final score of 17-8. Winning pitcher Marley Elbin tallied eight walks, six strikeouts, seven hits and five earned runs during the Sideling Hill League match. At the plate, Kim Russell batted three-for-five, which included a double, three RBIs and two runs. Kayla Wertz also chipped in a double while going two-for-four with two runs. Kelsey White rounded out the game batting four-for-five with two RBIs and two runs. Mc- Connellsburg pitcher Gabby Danner finished out the game with three strikeouts, three walks, 19 hits and 14 earned runs. Danner also connected for a double as did teammate Courtney DeShong, who batted twofor four. Alexus Mellott went two-for-four with an RBI.


Tussey Mountain 8

McConnellsburg 3

Tussey Mountain blew it open in the seventh inning with a three-run grand slam, which pushed the Titans ahead for the 8-3 Sideling Hill League win over the Mc- Connellsburg Spartans last Friday. Pitcher Levi Crouse took the loss for the Spartans, while Evan Appleby and teammate Jesse Swope came in during relief. Crouse went on to nail the team’s lone extra base hit, a triple.

Coming back from itsfirst loss of the spring season, Southern Fulton picked up a well- earned victory over Northern Bedford last Friday evening. Clinching the Sideling Hill League game by the final score of 4-2, the Indians were led offensively by Zane Baker, who went twofor three at the plate with a double and an RBI. Meanwhile, pitcher Jordan Clingerman snatched his second win of the season with three strikeouts, three walks, five hits and two earned runs.

Fannett-Metal 2

Forbes Road’s bats came alive last Thursday night when the Cardinals ran away with a 17-2 Sideling Hill League win over Fannett- Metal. Casey Wade connected for a double and triple while pushing four base runners across home plate. Teammate Hunter Horton batted two-for-four with a trio of RBIs, while Dylan Black went two-for-three with a double and two RBIs. Pitcher Tristan Gelvin picked up his first win of the year with three strikeouts, two walks and three hits.

Chestnut Ridge 1

McConnellsburg totalled 10 runs in the third inning against Chestnut Ridge and cruised to a 16-1 Sideling Hill League win last Thursday. Levi Crouse finished out the league victory connecting for two hits, which included a three-run double, and six RBIs. Ethan Mellott had a perfect night at the plate batting two-for-two with two RBIs, and Jesse Swope added two RBIs. Pitcher Caleb Christy struck out one at the plate and added one walk, three hits and one earned run.

Forbes Road 5

The Forbes Road Cardinals out hit Everett but committed too many errors on the field last Wednesday to end the game in a 10-5 Sideling Hill League loss. Hunter Horton batted three-for-four for the Cardinals with two RBIs. Teammates Tristan Gelvin and Brock Broadwater both added a triple. Pitcher Casey Wade finished with four strikeouts, five walks and five earned runs.

McConnellsburg 12

Southern Fulton 0

McConnellsburg broke a three-game losing streak last Tuesday night and handed Southern Fulton its very first loss of the spring season. Downing the Indians 12-0, McConnellsburg was led by Dalton Garlock, who batted three-for-four with two RBIs. Teammate Caleb Christy also went three-for-four with three runs, and Tristin Deneen batted two-for-three with two RBIs. Pitcher Evan Appleby went five innings on the mound with one strikeout and two hits. Seth Hall took the loss for Southern Fulton with three strikeouts, two walks, nine hits and four earned runs.

Tussey Mountain 37

Southern Fulton had mixed results last Thursday evening, losing to Bellwood- Antis but easily overcoming rivals from Tussey Mountain. Jacob Ashkettle prevailed for a trio of first-place wins for the Indians in the 400 meter, long jump and high jump. Briar Kirk added a win in the 1600 meter, and Steven Meyer was again victorious in the javelin.

Fairfield 88

McConnellsburg 62

McConnellsburg posted some good results last Thursday evening, but it wasn’t enough as Fairfield went on for the 88-62 win. Spartan Tony White picked up a trio of wins in individual events, including the 100 meter, 200 meter and long jump. White also ran a leg for the winning 400-meter relay team comprised of Nick Whitsel, Hunter Miller and Corey Hill. Hill also had individual wins in the 100 and 300 hurdles, and Ryan Stoeckle grabbed wins in the shot put and discus.

Southern Fulton 128,

Juniata Valley 21

Southern Fulton picked up a pair of wins Tuesday night, easily dominating both Everett and Juniata Valley in all but one event. Jacob Ashkettle grabbed a total of four first-place finishes in the 400 and 200 meter as well as the long and high jumps. Briar Kirk and Luke Wright both picked up a pair of victories, with Kirk taking the 1600- and 800-meter events. Meanwhile, Wright took the 300 hurdles and triple jump. Dustin Schetrompf added a win in the 110 hurdles, and Josh Voigt was victorious in the 3200 meter. The shot put and discus events were captured by Christian Barnhart and Jonah Ensor, respectively. Steven Meyer finished out the dual meet with a win in the javelin, and the pole vault was won by Dylan Cross. The 3200 and 1600 relay teams also took firstplace wins.

Southern Fulton split last Thursday evening’s meet falling to Bellwood-Antis but also clinching a victory over Tussey Mountain. Macey Hollenshead had a strong outing for the Indians with wins in the 1600 meter, 3200 meter and long jump. Molly Lake posted a victory in the 400 meter and ran a leg for the winning 1600 relay team with Kylie Covalt, Courtney Strait and Jenna Hollenshead.

McConnellsburg 81

Fairfield 63

McConnellsburg totalled nine first-place wins last Thursday on its way to a 81- 63 win over Fairfield. Rikki Green paved the way for the Lady Spartans with victories in the shot put, discus and javelin. Merissa Gray picked up a pair of wins in the 100 and 300 hurdles, while Breanna Worthing took the 800 meter. Nikki Fleming was victorious in the high jump, while Jessica Nero finished in first place in the pole vault. McConnellsburg’s 400-meter relay team also grabbed a first-place win.

Juniata Valley 61

The Southern Fulton Lady Indians split a dual meet against Everett and Juniata Valley last Tuesday with Macey Hollenshead paving the way with wins in the 1600, 3200 and triple jump. Molly Lake rounded out the day with a firstplace win in the 400 meter, and Kylie Covalt took the 300 hurdles. Jenna Hollenshead won the 800 meter, and the 3200 and 1600 relay teams were also victorious.

Chestnut Ridge 83

McConnellsburg 66

McConnellsburg had three teammates clinch a pair of wins last Tuesday during the Spartans’ 83-66 loss to Chestnut Ridge. Breanna Worthing finished with first-place wins in the 1600 and 800, while Olivia Mills won both the long jump and triple jump. Emily Watkins rounded out the meet with wins in the discus and javelin, while Nikki Fleming took the high jump. Merissa Grey was victorious in the 300 hurdles.
